Question about RCA CC6384 Camcorder

4 Answers

Battery Hi! After a couple minutes of recording (sometimes only 30 seconds!), we will get a message that the battery is not attached, and the camera will shut down. We have a fairly new battery, but this happens even with a full charge. We have taken the battery off and snapped it back on, but it still happens. Do you have any suggestions?

We do use a rechargable battery. If the contacts need cleaned, should we use rubbing alcohol or what?

This is simply a problem with the battery attachment switch clean it out and it should work fine... problem your having is the switch isnt working properly, so the camera dosent think that there is a battery attached and shuts off

You may want to try an expanded Ni-MH battery packs for longer recordings. there is a possibility that you may need a replacement for the pack.

you may use a very very light sand paper and carfully scrape the rust off. if you will use acohol, apply it on a cotton cloth then gently rub the conttact until the contact is clear.

Use rechargable battery instead of normal and clean the inner area where you insert your battery.

Hi luismasramir ,

Seems to be the case where the battery is not fully recharged , Please follow the below steps :-

  1. Please make sure that you charge your battery fully , till the time you see an indicator for the battery being fully charged , or may be you see an icon in the display screen with the charge status.
  2. As far the 6.30 hr duration that you have mentioned, this duration reflects the time that you have left for total recording space on your disk or memory card depending on your current source for recording.
  3. The above duration is not to be confused with the battery usage time.
Hope his helps ...:)

After recording with a full new battery (and the old one) the power just shuts off after about 15 min. Why?

The camcorder will shut off (i.e. go into "sleep" mode) after a few minutes of inactivity - to save your battery, particularly when your battery is at half or lower.
I find that my (fully charged) battery lasts only about 30 minutes (or less, if I use the zoom a lot, or, I use the filming (night) light, or I do not put the lens cover on when not in use, or I do not close the LCD display screen). I'll usually power off after completing my shots.
I keep a close watch on the battery meter and switch batteries as soon as it shows a red bar. (Just give it a minute to wrap-up before shutting down). I usually carry a couple of extra charged batteries. A larger (after market) battery that I bought lasted a hour or so, but it didn't hold a charge well after a couple of weeks of use.

I get a error code 30:23 on my HDR HC3 and it won't play or

Sony is pretty secretive about the :23 code. It can't be found anywhere. Sony recommends you do the following:
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 120 seconds.
  3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Turn on the camcorder.
  5. If the error message appears, service may be required.

Cannot eject cassette

Remove power source/ battery from camera for couple of minutes, replug/ attach battery and check.
If camcorder still gives error then its mechanical issue in tape mechanism and qualified camera tech will repair it.
Thanks.

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

Battery/Camera problem

Return the battery to Radioshack and try another brand of replacement battery. It is possible that the Radioshack battery is in stock for a long period of time. batterries have limited shelf life and it gets worse if they are left discharged for a long period of time.
