This might be because you have not selected the option to burn a dvd or your burning software does not support dvd burning
there are plenty of free burning software programs on the internet

http://www.majorgeeks.com/BurnAware_Free_d5839.html

BurnAware Free is one of the most popular free CD, DVD, Blu-ray Disc burning software available for Windows.
Using this program you can easily create and burn Audio and MP3 CD, Data and DVD-Video disc, ISO and Cue Image,
erase or format rewritable disc, copy your CD or DVD to ISO image.

hope this helps

Goes straight to burn and doesen't copy

Which Program? There is a difference between Burn and Copy.

Copy means you have a CD or DvD that already has something on it such as a music CD or a movie DvD and you want to copy it. The system normally reads the CD or DvD and copies the contents to disk then asks you to put in a blank CD or DvD to make the copy.

Burn means you have Data Files, Documents or Music that is already on the disk drive and you want to put it on a Cd or DvD. Normally you just put in a blank CD or DvD then either Drop and Drag, Browse or Copy and Paste the files you want on the CD or DvD.

L305D-S5930 dvd wont burn documents to a dvd disc

You need a program, like nero.
if that doesn't work then put a DVD in the drive & see if the computer picks it up in the my computer.
the first thing that goes in a CD/DVD-RW drive is the DVD heads, thats if your drive is a CD/DVD-RW.
Have a look on the front of the drive tray, if it say CD-RW DVD ROM then it doesn't burn DVD's it only plays them.

Dvd not recognized by Windows Media Center

This issue can be caused by a few things. my first suggestion is to delete the upper and lower filters, you can follow this kb document from microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 for step by step instructions on how to do this. If the problem persists try using microsoft's restore manager to go back to a time when the device was properly working. If all else fails you may have to replace the drive.

Pc died

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
Hope this helps.....
