My NEC NP100 LED light is flashing RED and it is suggesting that the lamp has gone. I have looked atthe lamp hours and there are displaying over 3000 hrs. Have changed the Lamp but the Project still shuts down and flashes RED.
I have looked and it may be a fan lock, but how can this be fixed?

Hello, unfortunately the NEC MT1060 - MT1070 series projectors have EEPROM chips built into the lamp housing which counts the hours that the lamp has been used for so the only way to reset the hours is to change the lamp for a new one, if your old lamp has only had the reflector replaced then it will make no differance because the chip tells the projector weather or not to power up depending on the hours its counted, i have not yet found a way to reset the chips even by reprogramming them, i'm afraid the only solution is to replace the lamp with an official NEC unit, but this was obviously their intention, just as an added note, a solid red lamp indicator light means that the lamp has expired, if its flashing red this means its nearing the end of its life, if the status indicator light is flashing then there could be another issue, by counting the flashes you can reffer to the manual in the troubleshooting section to diagnose the fault, I know this is very late, but anyone else reading this may find it helpfull.
the lamp needs replacement.as per the manual.
the light flashes 5 times.this is the indication to replace lamp.
replacing the lamp should solve the lamp.
Lamp strikes 5, Red LED flashes once over and over the solution is lamp replacement.
for getting lamp you can get it from www.partstore.com This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
the expected lamp life is an average .. its not unusual to see early failures ... check the lamp connections to make sure they are secure ... check ventilation to make sure its not blocked by dust .. if there is a fan, make sure its working ..
Is this the first lamp you have placed into your Infocus pj? If not, did you reset the hours when you did it last time? Otherwise that can also confuse the projectors internal system thinking there is NOT a new lamp in there and there for make it stop working once the clock hours are expired and over the 3000-6000 suggested hour life.
Let me know so I can help trouble shoot other possible problems.
When the lamp exceeds 2100hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following: For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds. For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]
replace the lamp. the lamps basicly have 3000 hours before they go, and also depends on the number of times the unit is turned on and off which greatly lessens the life of the lamp.
According to Epson the led will flash red in one of two cases:
Flashes red with 1 sec intervals - either the lump has burned out(We can rule this one in this case) or the lamps cover is open (try checking the cover's sensor)
Flashes red with 2 sec intervals - an internal problem, I'd suggest contacting Epson's support.
Good Luck
