Not enough bass. should i run a capacitor.adjust my amp and what to set it at for max performance

Turn up the gain on your amp until you get the amount of bass you want or until the sub starts to distort. If you do this and you are still unhappy with the bass, you will need a bigger amp or better subs.

I got 2 1100 watt sony xplod subs powered off a 1000 watt sony xplod amp, everything works fine i just wanna make sure this will be ok and the amp or subs wont blow or fry.

you can blow a sub out when they are overpowered as well as underpowered. Distortion is the main reason thing go out. distortion occurs when you have the volume n the head unit up all the way and the gains on the amp are up all the way. always make sure the bass plays clear and you should be okay

I have a 1200 watt sony xplod amp hooked up to a 15" SBL Gorilla sub. The bass hit for a while and then started to cut off. Now it wont work unless i touch the remote wire to the power wire, and even then...

this kind of problems usually happen when the amp is not getting enough current to power up the
amp. the moment a loud low frequency hits the amp it fails. cud be ur power unit not giving enough power to the amp or u have a loose connection somewhere on ur power line. besides 8gauge is a bit small. try using about 4gauge. should have good ground too. they draw large current so ur battery should be in top condition as well.

What kind of subs are you running? Meaning what brand, what are the ohm, spl and wattage? I'll look up your amp while you get that info to me. Looking forward to helping you:) Thanks!

What duz level adjustment do

Hello,

The level control controls the input level coming from your head unit (receiver) to the amp.

Your Sony users manual is a little vague on how to best adjust the level and other controls.

Here is one method that some installers use and works well with most amps.

Most 10" subs sound best between about 80-100hz and below, so start out by setting the LPF at about 80hz. The HPF will not be used. Next turn the bass boost and gain all the way down. Turn on the radio and set all tone controls, bass, midrange, treble to flat, usually "0" on most head units. Turn the volume up to approximately 3/4 volume level or just until you begin to hear distortion. Now, back the volume down until the distortion is gone. Next turn up the gain control on the amp until you hear the subs start to distort then back the gain down until the distortion disappears. Next turn the bass boost up again until the subs begin to distort, then either back the bass boost down or back the gain down until the distortion is gone. You may need to play around with the bass boost and gain controls to get exactly the sound you prefer.

Hope this helps.

Sony xplod 1200 watt

i had the same ploblem with my amp then i found out i didnt have a good enough ground. Make sure you groung it to your weel well or some part of the frame. Or you mite be running with a fuse thats pushing to much power i use a 100a fuse 5 gage power cord to power my 1200w xplode and my 2 12" kicker comps. Or if your using two diff kind of subs then you amp is confused in why your asking for 500w on one side and 600w on the other this will also make your amp light come on.

One hits harder then other

Check the Polarity on the subs, you might have to invert one. Best way i know of to test is get a BASS CD -=download a bass test cd...legally of course=- and check for a test that will just flutter the speakers in and out and see if they both go in and out in the same way, if one is in and the other is out that could be your problem
