CanoScan 8000F Installation for Windows 8.1

Unfortunately, the Canon 8000F is not compatible with Windows 8.1. You can find this at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductViewerWithDefaultFilters?TempOsid=Windows%208.1&Locale=en-us&Architecture=X64&TextSearch=CanoScan%2B8000F&Type=Both&CurrentPage=0&TotalPages=1&ShowCriteria=0&SortCriteria=Relevance&Compatibility=Unknown&LastRequested=14. Canon choose not to write a Windows 8 or 8.1 driver for this scanner. The changes between Windows 7 and 8 mean that the old driver won't work. The compatibility mode doesn't help in this case.

You have two choices: The cheapest option (if you buy a used machine): You can get a second computer with Windows 7 or an older version of Windows installed that does support the Canon 8000F. Alternatively, with a computer with more than 4GB of memory and a CPU that supports can support a virtual OS to buy 1) an upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro and 2) a Windows 7 license and DVD. (This will cost at around $200 for Windows 7 Home Premium and the upgrade.) Then you can add the Hyper V feature and install Windows 7 as a virtual OS with at least 2 GB of your memory assigned to virtual OS. Install the scanner in that virtual computer.

I hope this helps.

Windows 7 64b doesn't recognise any driver for Canoscan 8000F Have you a solution ?

Your problem is they don't have a 64bit driver. You need to contact Canon Technical support on their website and ask if they have a 64bit driver available yet or even a beta driver you can use. There drivers are 32bit. You can contact them here under support. Either click the link below or copy and paste it into your web browser.

I hope this helps you out if it does please give me a YES on the web page you have received my response on. Thank you

Hi, My Canon Canoscan 8000F produces a blank when I scan a document. It started to fade or play up a few months ago but it always managed to right itself after 20 minutes or so, but not this time. Is it...

Most likely it will be you CCD, Yes it can be replaced, Please find below your service and repair manual, with this you should be able to isolate your issue and effect repair. However do bear in mind though, that often, for whatever reason, it can cost as much to repair as to get a new one.

Is my canoscan 8000f vista compatable On the site of canon they state that the same driver can be used as for Windows XP. This is not true. Untill now, I found no way to get it working again.

You may have to install or update drivers Most of the drivers/software I get are from a web site driverguide.com you need to fill out a free registration then search for the driver you need download it in a format you can use install it and then most times reboot the computer

Windows vista 64 bit driver

Hi mtrump1,

Thanks for your posting in FixYa.

The driver are available on the Canon Website, use this link to get it:

http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000441.asp

or

For Vista 64 Bit you can try:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SCANNER-Digital-CAMERA-WEBCAM/CANON/Canon-CanoScan-D1230U-611c.shtml

But i think both should be compatible to run in any 32 or 64 bit environment.
