Sony VAIO uses F2 or F3 button to access the BIOS. It varies from model to model, so not sure which one is the exact. Please try F2 or F3. Hope this helps. Good Luck. ~SmokinJoe~

I have Sony VAIO VGN-SZ2XP/C, installed Windows 7 All fine except the display is smaller than the display screen.

right click anywhere on your screen, find the screen resolution tab and click on it. change your display to 1920 by 1080. if this doesn't work, try a few of the other screen resolutions.

Bios fw140e reset vgn vergine

Follow these steps to access the BIOS on a VAIO computer.
WARNING: Other than resetting the BIOS to the default values, making changes to the BIOS is an advanced procedure that can produce unintended results if not done properly. For instance, if you set a Machine Password and later forget that password, it will require advanced technical support and possibly service to regain access to the computer.
  1. Turn off the computer.IMPORTANT: If you are having difficulty accessing the BIOS, or are doing so as a step in troubleshooting an issue, it is recommended that you remove all media or any peripheral devices connected to the computer before trying to access the BIOS.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. At the black VAIO logo screen, press the F2 key.
If you are accessing the BIOS as a step in troubleshooting an issue, you may need to reset the BIOS to the default settings. While the exact steps will vary slightly based on the version of the BIOS installed on the computer, these general steps will allow you to reset the BIOS to the factory default values:
  1. In the Setup Utility window, use the arrow key to select Exit.
  2. At the Exit screen, press the down arrow key to select Get Default Values, and then press the Enter key.
  3. At the Get Default Values prompt, use the arrow keys to select Yes, and then press the Enter key.
  4. At the Exit screen, with Exit Setup selected, press the Enter key.
  5. At the Exit prompt, use the arrow keys to select Yes, and then press the Enter key.
  6. The computer will restart.

After xp installation my sony vaio vgn-sz2xp display did not appearfully.black spaces are appeared on the both side of the screen......... kindly help me its too urjent

I would guess that the video driver has not been installed? If it has, try changing the display resolution to see if it will fill the screen.

You can obtain driver software for this machine at the following URL:

Please advise how to reset the biose on vgn-s28gp,i try to find reset jumper but i did not find out please help. aqeel.

Not sure which key Sony used but the easiest way to reset the Bios for a laptop is to start teh computer and go straight to Bios and select to restore Default settings. All Bios setups ahve this option. It is normally the F2, Del, F10 or F12 key right after you see the initial splash screen after tuning the computer on. The only other option I can think of without tearing the system open would be to remove the power cord, the main battery and the Bios battery if you have access then put it all back. In some models you can remove teh covers from the hard drive or Ram on the bottom of the computer and get to the Bios battery to remove it. I know a lot of HP models have that so it may be an option with the Vaio.

I can't log on bios for sony VGN- S1xp

Please restart the computer and try pressing the F10 or F8 Key to enter BIOS Setup. If the issue persists then it might be with the Keyboard or Hardware issue. In that case please contact Sony Service Center. The AC Adapter has to be used which is compatible with the particular model of the Notebook.

This is a known issue with a VGN-CR series Computer when Audio may not work properly after installing Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Installing the BIOS update should resolve the issue.

If the issue still persists after installing the BIOS update then you may try installing the Audio Driver from this Link.
