F3 on a Whirlpool microwave means you have a shorted keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Is it E0 F2 or F2-E0? If it is a 4 digit panel and it shows F2-E0, then it is a shorted keypad and you have to replace it. Sorry.

Microwave oven not working and digital display show "-F2-". from time to time a beeping sound occurs and then the clock displays properly. But shortly after that the "-F2-" display shows again

F2 on a Maytag / Kitchenaid / Whirlpool model means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.

But please note that for some models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.
That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

Please contact us with your full model number and we can tell you if yours is one of these models, and if so, we'll also give you the part number you need to order and a link to the best priced supplier.

Either way, we can let you know what your options and costs would be and send you other helpful info.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me
directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

F2 means you have a shorted membrane keypad.

On some models, you can get the membrane keypad replaced by a servicer or your can do it yourself, but on some models, you would have to order a new control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

Kenmore microwave model 63792 displays F2 error message

The F2 error code on your microwave oven is a membrane failure.
It is recommended that you replace the membrane first & if you still have problems to replace the control board.

Microwave shows F2 on display with controls non functional

HI. this is a code that represents a failed key pad or touch pad membrane board. replacing this failed touch pad will fix this issue. This touch pad board is separate from the actual control board.

1 Answer

Kenmore microwave

If this has a controller that runs a microwave and an oven, then the problem F2 means a temperature related fault such as a bad temp sensor / thermostat or a defect in the control board. If it's just a microwave, then the problem is likely a failing keypad. In many cases, those can be replaced economically. If you repost with your exact model number (62622 is not a complete model number) then we can advise you further and more specifically.
