Will not power up

-   When I put in fresh batteries sometimes it will come on but when I have to power off and then try to use it again, it says replace the batteries. So, I put fresh batteries in and it still will not work. Does not even power up anymore. Does it require a "special" kind of batteries? The manual says it will use AA Alkaline batteries. I have tried rechargeable and non rechargeable. HELP !!-   ajhenson
