Sounds like everything has been done that can be, new sound card, drivers, and format. The only thing left is the motherboard. It's rare, but I have seen a few machines that when the sound card went out, especially if the card went out violently by overload, short etc... the traces (circuit paths) in the motherboard, or the seat for the card on the motherboard were damaged. Have them run the traces and check the seat on the motherboard to determine if this is the cause of the problem. If this is the case, unfortunately, motherboard replacement is your only option in order to get the sound to work.

Dell inspiron 700m no sound

You may have the well known issue just as I had which is the lines running up the left side from keyboard to screen which are supposed to go to the speakers easily break because they are very small and they break from just the opening and closing of the screen. It's no worry I dug it all out and still just went on Amazon and got a USB audio speaker/headphone interface for $8.
Here's what I got and I am very happy....you will save a lot of time to just grab this now... Trust me. I would never suggest if I didn't like it and have used or owned it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BP2REBK/ref=pd_aw_sims_8?pi=SL500_SS115

I have dell inspiron 700m. bought it around 2006, thus, my optical drive doesn't work anymore. about a month ago, after transferring files from my pc to a stick, it suddenly stopped working. it was...

Possible your hard-drive has gone to a better place.
If you have a spare laptop HDD, try swapping it first. It obviously will not boot into Windows, but it may at least let you format and install from a USB stick.

Hi,my speakers stopped working.. I plugged in a headphone and it stopped working..it was working fine before

If neither the headphones or the speakers work, then there may be an issue with the sound card drivers, so I'd uninstall them and reinstall the drivers. If headphones work but speakers do not, take off the hinge cover, see if one of the wires are broken (Happened on mine) if so you can splice, but the are is close work.

No sound from the speakers with my dell laptop inspiron 700m I trouble checked everything.I have the sound when I plug my headset. Is it a sound card or a driver problem? Can I download another driver?...

Fred if you get sound to your headset from the same port you get no sound for your speakers, it is the speakers and not your headset. Are there any speaker lights on at all? If not maybe your power supply for the speakers is bad.Try a different set of speakers in the same computer and see what happens. If they work, the speakers are bad. Otherwise you have some strange connection problem.

Internal speakers do not emit sound but I can hear w/ headphones

I have a 700m, so I'm real familiar with the system. I see one of 2 possibilities. The headphone jack has a switch that disables the on-board speakers, if that is stuck or broken, then the jack/switch must be replaced. (Big hassle)

The other is easier to troubleshoot, then connection from the speakers to the MB goes through the Right hinge cover. Take the hinge cover off, check for broken wires (I has one, ***** to splice too)

No sound from internal speakers on Dell Inspiron 700m ?? Any Ideas. I ahve atried all the basic stuff

sometimes the wires for the speakers break... just take the laptops panel above the keyboard out, remove keyboard, unplug the 4 white and black wires, and repair the break... Takes about 10 minutes to do! and you'll get your sound back.. Dell had a small design flaw there, but you'll get the speakers running easily! Same thing happened to my Inspiron 700M..... You can splice the wires and fix it yourself!

AUDIO O/P SOUND CHANGED SUDDENLY

How about trying with its internal speakers ?
if it works fine then the sound output jack-port have a problem.
If not working then try to re-install your audio drivers.
If still not having good result even if you re-install your operating system, you should go to repair center since you have a hardware failure.

No audio on inspiron 700m

This is what I posted on Yahoo answers in reply to this problem a few months ago

It may be that the speaker wires themselves are cut. The 700m's have a problem with the hinge for the monitor cutting the wires to the speakers due to their placement. You can check out this link:

http://www.lukemiller.org/journal/2006/0...

That details the problems, along with pictures and a nice guide on how to fix it. It's easy to check... if you look at the top of the keyboard, you see the Dell logo, and just to the left of that is a place for a small flathead screwdriver. Pry that up (carefully, and it must be done with the screen completely opened so it is 180 degrees). The wires are tiny black and white, 4 of them, in the right hand hinge. If they are cut that's your problem.

If you call Dell they will tell you that you have to buy a whole LCD kit (~$500) because that's the only way you can get the speakers. But you can usually find them on Ebay (I did) for about $25-30 used. Check out that link for how to do it.

As far as the power, I would check first that the battery is fully and properly seated, otherwise wouldn't know what to tell you there.

Cheers

Laptop speakers stopped working

Hello fadesit, It sounds like the headphone socket is sticking/defective. When you insert the jack into the socket a contact is broken to disable the external speakers, when you remove the jack the connection is resumed. Due to the amount of work this will take and the possibility of causing other problems in the process I would check to see if the warranty is still in effect first. If not then the next thing to ask is do you have the tools, mechanical aptitude, patience and ability to risk damaging your laptop to do this yourself? If you want to go the do it yourself route let me know and I?ll post some disassembly instructions later tonight otherwise please don?t forget to rate the posting.
