Question about LG Flatron L1715S 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Green Power LED is lit- But no image on the screen

I have a Flatron L1715S Monitor which I have replaced for a customer. When switched on the Green LED is illuminated, but no image appears on the screen other than the diagnostics icon or not connected message, which quickly disappears.

The Green LED stays illuminated whether the monitor is connected to a PC or not.

Could this be an internal circuit board problem, and if so can they be swapped out with replacements.

My screen went blank suddenly. Tried rebooting but still blank. When I press the green button, the image appears for a split second, then disappears. Checked the connections - seem OK.

I have L1715S flatron with the same problem (i.e. green power led is lit but no picture. If I turn the monitor off for a few seconds and then back on, for about a second I get a picture and then the screen goes blank again). Connections and PC check out OK. any ideas?

Hi, I have just repaired one of these with the same problem. Turned out to be a 680uf 25v capacitor that had failed. Capacitor was visibly domed. Easy repair with new capacitor. Hope this helps.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

dbartholo630, Your CCFL back-lit lcd monitor no different than any other brand in it's basic use of technology, design, and operation!! Your 5 to 7 year old unit needs work (repair/refurbishment) of it's power supply. Yes, it could have swollen, leaky electrolytic filter capacitors on the switch mode power supply that will need replacing with new one's to get it up and running again???? Read fixya "profiles" and "testimonials" of the following fixya tech's: "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie".
Only you will determine if you will DIY fix or just trade in for new wide screen unit. Hope this was of some use to you. 12fixlouie

That is a defect with those monitors...you should get the returned to the store...if you can't then you may have to do some soldering dude...it is a power issue with the monitor itself...you will need to find the replacement capacitor inside..but still the best advice is to return the product
