Hello there.

This means the User you are logged in as does not have Administrative Privileges. Without them, the system will not allow hardware changes or additions.

Try this:

  • Click START > Control Panel > User Accounts
  • User accounts will be displayed.
  • Find your Login Name and click it.
  • Select 'Change Account type and click it.
  • 'Limited' is probably marked. Click the administrator button. and save.
  • Retry the install
If this doesn't work
  • Under the names, find one that says Computer Administrator.
  • Log in under this name. You're on you own with the password
  • Retry the install
If you continue to have problems, get back to me with model #'s details, etc.

Remember: Good things come to those who Rate.

Log off the computer or restart the computer and login with administrator account and password to install it successfully.

If you don't have an administarator account then reboot the system in safe mode and login with administrator account and make a account which has admin rights.

An administrator account user can only install the printer drivers or software.

Trouble installing & using 64 Bit Drivers, look here.

You have to INSTALL & RUN, EVERYTHING as Administrator. PLUS You MUST Disable Digital Driver Signing too, in any 64bit version. So you have to press F8 at startup. EVERY SINGLE TIME you want to load the driver & to use the printer. So you, go to bottom of the F8, list and select Disable Driver Signing. Now you must do this. to INSTALL and USE. Try that I bet it will work. EVERY TIME F8

My xps600 does not allow me to sign in to windows, it asks me to tipe in password right after it turns on, and after i tipe it in , it says wrong password, system halted and it says it needs to shut down.

You password has been compromised. Please login as administrator and change the password for the user ID which you login as. Administrator login is available on Safe Mode

How do I sign in as the administrator on my computer?

If you haven't setup a restricted user account, or someone else has, you probably have a computer virus...
Viruses often disable some windows features...
Try to install some antivirus software, and try using the HijackThis utility to remove such windows malforms

the password it is asking for is probably the administrator password. If there is someone else that uses the computer also they may be set as the administrator and you probably have a normal user account.
YOu need to get the administrator password before you can install the printer. If this seems to be a normal problem for you then you should have yourself set as an administrator(control panel>user accounts))
Let me know if this helps with your problem and thanks for using FIxYa

I ve just bought lexmark z2300 printer, how do i connect it to my laptop which is on wireless broadband with perlico? ta caroline.

You need to connect the printer with an extra cable which can join it through its 25 pin parallel cable. That cable then with USB end connect with the Laptop. and its drivers can be automatically detect by your Vista system.
For Vista 64-bit, the driver for printer and cable should be digitally signed.
Otherwise you need this method for Driver Installation in Windows Vista 64-bit:
The 64-bit version of Windows Vista is the first version of Windows that will only allow signed drivers and this restriction is built-in. For most cable drivers are unsigned and we request you to follow some prerequisites before installing the driver.
Preparing Vista 64-bit for Driver installation:
  • Using the F8 option: Press F8 key on your keyboard while booting your PC. You will get into “Advanced Boot Options”. Select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”
  • An F8 Advanced Boot Option introduced with Windows Vista—“Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”—is available to disable the kernel-signing enforcement only for the current boot session. This setting does not persist across boot sessions.
  • Note: Make sure to use F8 option every time you boot/reboot your PC before start working with MCS77XX.
  • Make sure that the User installing the driver must be a member of the Administrator group on the system.
And for printer driver if you dont have CD then go through this link and follow the steps:

Let me know if you need furhter assistance, I will help you to run your Printer with Laptop.

Trying to install progrmme for hp deskjet f300 but keeps saying needs administrator logged on which i have?

Please check the user account in control panel and see whether administrative rights are there or not.. If not try to restart your computer in safe mode and login with Administrator and give the rights to your account..........
you can also right click on the software file of your printer and select "Run as" now a dialogue box will open and select administrator and type the password and click on ok to run it....

If still you are unable to do it then let me know we will enable the administrator acccount in normal default it is used in safe mode only for troubleshooting purpose....
