I cannot access my DSL connection cause the driver is not installed, usually I don't know the model of my lan card, where can I find the model of my build in lan card. Pls. Help Thank you. Arnold

If you can get into the Internet with another computer then your DSL modem is configured correctly.
Check the LAN driver in the $5 laptop is working and enabled, if not then install the LAN driver.
You can download the LAN and device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windowsdrivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download thedrivers: -

3. You need a DSL or cable modem and connect and configure the modem to inaccordance with your Internet service provider's instructions.
4. Install Internet Explorer if it has not been done.
5. If everything has been done correctly, when you open Internet Explorer youcan access the Internet.If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then -
To connect to yourwireless router, the router needs its wireless settings to be configuredwith the SSID, encryption key etc., also the wireless cards in all thelaptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings.Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

1st check your driver manager to know your all driver are correctly install , ,
just right click/mouse2 on computer icon and select manage, ,
it will apear on your screen the new window, then click device manager make sure that there's no yellow icon question mark. . yellow icon mean's driver are not install ,

2nd: if you don't know what driver you had to be download post *********** board model here, in that way we can help you. . . .

the virus can not get your Ip address ..the issue may be that you did not installed the LAN card driver ..After you install all the drivers ..just try again ..cause with dsl modem you do not have a static Ip address but you just obtain one automatically so ...after you install the driver for the LAN card ..just reset the modem and run the disk that you have from the provider with the settings for the modem ..or call them to advice for the settings ..if they did not provided a disk with automate settings ..
the LAN card needs no further settings but just in case you have a static Ip address..in your case I think you have to leave it like that cause by default it is set to obtain an Ip address automatically ..
If the the modem never been unplugged or something like that it will work after you install the LAN card ..
either use the drivers for your motherboard is the card is on board ..or look for the disk with your lan card driver ..

1. Shut off the power to your cable or dsl modem for about 30 minutes.

2. Connect the ethernet cable from your modem to the Internet port on the router.

3. After 30 minute power on ONLY the modem NOT the router

4. Wait about 60 seconds and power on the router

Try it now.

This type of service usually costs more and again you need to select an Internet Service Provider that can provide the wireless coverage, the plan and costs that suit your requirements.
Installation and setting up information is supplied by the ISP.

You can download the latest lan card driver from their website, usually the drivers that are on the cd are not updated.

You can also install a separate lan card on your computer or you can also buy usb to lan adapter that you can insert on your usb drive, you can google USB TO LAN ADAPTER.
