Mother board repairing at component level is not possible to Sony. It is best to replace it. Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Tech says i need new motherboard computer won´t turn on

Before you buy a new mother board, (the L300D-13S board is around $185 from China), remove your battery, leave it for about 5 minutes. Use only the Mains power supply and see if it will switch on.
Fit the battery, plug in the Mains Charger and see if the battery charge light comes on. If it does and it won't give you a screen or flash the hard drive light or power up the hard drive, then I am inclined to go along with a replacement Mother Board.
The laptop has to complete the POST and if it doesn't that usually points to Mother Board problems.
Were you trying to upload a newer version of the BIOS before it failed?
Good luck but check ebay and beware there are some really dodgy frauds out there.

I have this motherboard and it won't post. The HD light stays on but does not appear to be spinning. I swapped HD's...same problem. I think the MB is bad. Any suggestions on what to check next?

If the mother board will not complete the POST, (Power On Self Test) changing the drive will have no effect. You might want to remove all memory and check again ... your memory could be causing the problem. Remove all boards and attachments except mouse, keys and monitor of course so you can see what is going on.

If it will not POST, get another board.

Basics ... always go back to basics.

This was posted previously. M15i does not turn

in following order, either and most likely the Power supply is bad, That is located under the cover where the paper comes out, On the left side of the machine, where the on off switch is, there are 2 screws that hold the cover on, the power supply is there..A fuse on it may be bad, but that power supply fails due to heat.
Next is the main board failure, but that is less likely , about a 10 percent chance. The power supply print board crack from heat, and the filter capacitors also fail.

Where to located Boards

I would suggest you send your boards or the complete chassis to a company called PTS Electronics.

They will do a complete test of the boards and replace the defective components.

Hi Harold L

Yes it is most probably the fuse that has gone.

Take of the top cover of the Projector and look on the Main Powersupply Board ( the one with the AC inlet on it ) - you'll see a fuse on the board.

Change the fuse even if you cannot see any markings or discolouration on it.

Good luck and I hope this is of help.

If this doesn't work - just post another posting and I'll respond ASAP.

Thanks for using Fixya !
