Using the composite cables from my camcorder to V.AUX front inputs on the AVR-1508, I get audio but no video. V. AUX is selected as the source. Monitor is connected to receiver via component cable. Video works only when camera is connected directly to the front inputs on the TV itself.

I'm trying to connect a Samsung HD LCD tv to a Denon AVR1508 receiver using HDMI cable so that the TV sound comes thru the receiver/speakers. which jack do I use (on both the tv and the receiver,

connect the hdmi to the tv (hdmi input 1) and to the receiver (hdmi output) you must make sure that the receiver input settings are assigned correctly. Then hook up all of your devices to the receiver. remember that the 1508 dosent do hdmi upconversion, so if you have any devices that are NOT hdmi, you need to run rca cables from the output of you receiver to the input of your tv. If you have any digital inputs coming out of your devices, i would recommend using them. your 1508 has two inputs that are assignable.
If all of your devices are hooked up to your receiver, and its hooked up to your tv properly, just turn down the sound on your tv, and turn up the volume on your denon!

Trying to connect HP M9060N and Sharp Aquos through Denon AVR 1508, only get 'no signal' response. Have HDMI 1 set to DVD, HDMI 2 to AUX, HDMI 3 to TV, which is order of HDMI outlets on receiver.

Depending on your TV inputs, you are better off to run video componenets through TV first then, connect TV to reciever via digital optical. Recievers have video pass through but, noyt the best route. You can use TV's menu to choose what you watch and, only have the one output from TV to reciever. Make sure you scan through TV and reciever menus to make sure you are selecting the right channel.

I cant figure out how to listen to the radio while i play video games through hdmi cables

In order for you to be able to have a different audio source from your video, i.e.; have "radio sound" instead of "video game sound", you have to connect your HDMI cables from the game console directly to the TV/Monitor.

The reason for this is that video and audio are carried simultaneously over a single connection on HDMI. If you make your HDMI connections through a receiver to a monitor, whenever you change your input to the radio you also lose your video game picture.

So to summarize;

Power off your receiver and game console.

Disconnect your game console HDMI cable from the receiver.

Reconnect the HDMI cable to the TV.

Turn on the TV, then the receiver, then your game console. Then change your receiver input to the radio.

I have my PS3 and TV hooked up to the HDMI ports. I have programmed the unit to show them under TV and DVD respectivly. When I change the source to TV or DVD, nothing shows up on my TV as expected

Sounds like you hooked them both up to HDMI input ports. Make sure that the PS3 is connected to an HDMI input port on the AVR-1508, and that the TV is connected to an HDMI output port (not an input).

Connection/configuration issue: I have a Denon

Just confirming my understanding of your connections :

1). The DVD1800BD output HDMI is connected to AVR3808's DVD-in HDMI.
2). The DVD/VHS recorder output HDMI is connected to AVR3808's DVR-in HDMI.
3). The DVD/VHS recorder input (S-video and L/R Audio) is connected to AVR3808's DVR-out(SVideo and L/R Audio).
Right?

What other inputs have been connect to your AVR3808?
Does the recorder have Component Video inputs?

Please also connect DVD1800BD's output(Component video, S-Video and L/R Audio) to AVR3808s' DVD-in similar inputs and try recording onto your recorder.

Actually, its possible that you may be having a HDMI HDCP communication issue(High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) with the source product (DVD1800BD). First check with the source equipment manufacturer for any updates to their products.

If HDMI video is not passing through your AVR3808, you can connect it thru the alternate connection method I have mentioned above.

If the connections/recording still does not happen with the added anolog cables, then let me know , we can trouble shoot it further.
I hope the above helps.

Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!
