Question about Denon Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I have a Denon DM35DAB CD receiver. Having switched on from standby it seems that virtually every button results in switching back off. E.g. if I press disc eject, or try to change function to the radio - off it goes. It will generally play the CD that is already in the machine - but via the remote not the play button on the unit - but won't let me change the CD. I am getting bored of the same CD! Any ideas?

Just open your remote control and clean it with an alcohol, and do some resolder works of the parts joint , maybe there are already cracked in the remote that why is not works properly..

hope this may help;

Denon CD not switching on

The lightening causes a strong electro magnetic field to build up very quick and also break down. This pulse can induce a huge current in electronic equipment, causing damage in semiconductors.
The damage can be in any of the components in your Denon. It also could be only one semiconductor. FET's and MOS FET's are the most vulnerable.
Without a service manual, tools and the Denon on my desk it would be impossible to tell what is damaged.
But I would trust not any component in the player.

Denon AVR-3200 wont go into standby mode

Not sure what you mean by standby mode. The power button on most of the audio remotes I deal with merely turns the equipment on and off.

Seems to be some sort of power problem since the READY light is no longer on, and therefore the remote control cannot turn the receiver on, nor can pressing the power on button turn it on.

If there is no standby light. Open the top cover and check the fuse on the primary power side. MAKE SURE THE POWER CORD IS UNPLUGGED.There are two transformers in this model. A small one for standby and a large one for the main section.A relay clicks when you touch the power button and switches on the large transformer and the display comes on. If there is any problem in the output stage the the relay will click and the system will go into standby again.

After turning ON the power/standby switch, the unit(receiver) display comes ON (green light) then after approx.4-5 seconds the display goes OFF and the unit defaults back to the standby mode (red light). I...

Is the red light flashing at first?
The unit may be going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps2_bing.gif metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers2_bing.gif are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.

Check on e-bay for a replacement, call Denon tech support and have them send you a new one, or buy you a universal remote and put in the code from their manual for your Denon receiver.

Has power but keeps switching to standby

Disconnect all speakers at the receiver and turn it back on, if it stays on post a comment and I will help you troubleshoot further. If it still cuts out, it needs to go to service for repair. Hope this helps.

What is the master reset code for the denon avr 1508?

Turn the unit off by main switch (not a standby button).
Press and hold "Speakers-A" and "Speakers-B" buttons and turn on main switch.
Display blinks.
Release the buttons after 3 seconds.
Receiver is reseted.

Denon av receiver switches off

replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it powered up and stayed on and worked perfect.
these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality.
this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.

hope this helps?

You're drawing too much power from it. Sounds like maybe your sub is hooked up wrong, double check that.
