I have a problem with my HDTV 1080i. The model number at the back is PT-53WX54J.
It doesn't turn on. It makes few bips when we try to turn it on.
Please describe what would be the problem and what would be the cost of repair.
Thank you
Greg

3 blinks 3.3v SOS D Board. This is the faulty board. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for
more details. Click this link. View it in
"Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected
from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner
of the display window. It will make
search easy. There are more than 1250 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up

You may have a component failing in the red drive stage possibly the blue as well or even the quadrature stage. A can of cold shot should help narrow the search considerably. It is also possible the red and blue projection tubes are nearing the end of their service life as well. If you have the means to test the tubes themselves, check the red and blue tubes for gas.
Thanks for using FixYa. 3 blinks means convergence output failure and to resolve this you’ll need to change the convergence chips which are located behind the black heat sink; you can see once you open the back off the TV. Please
do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further
assistance. Thanks Rylee
LED 3 times blinks shows problem with convergence out section in TV and may requires convergence out ICs replacement.
If you are familiar with TV repair and can solder parts on PCB then let me know to provide you more technical info. Thanks.
lets start by going over the beeps and lights. when you power the unit on. it should go Blue and stay blue. this means the unit is so far functioning correctly.
if your unit turns on lights up blue, then yellow , then red and stays red you have an issue
if you are experiencing the first scenario, press the power button till it goes red. which is standby mode. then press button again till you hear two beeps, let go. make sure you have all your cables plugged in. this will send you to the diagnostic screen on the ps3 to select anyone of your options. since you are not getting a video display select the display settings and reset yours according to your type tv. if you are using a standard old school tellie, then its 480i, if you are on a plasma or lcd it would be 720p,1080i or 1080p. then you should be good from there
okay, if you are experiencing the second scenario its a much more severe issue. the GPU on the motherboard has gone bad, which is common on ps3s. if it is under warranty contact sony and they will send you out a refurb'd unit. if it is not under warranty there are a few good companies out on ebay that reflow or reball gpu chips on ps3s to repair this known issue.
since you are getting beeps and lights this is one of your scenarios. if you get no lights,no beeps then you got a bad Power Supply.
THe part n umber will be dependent upon the exact model number of your set. Can you please post that model number. This entry is listed under model number PT-47WX49. Pleaes confirm the model so we can get the proper part number.
