DVD head units have one extra wire in their wiring harnesses, compared to a standard CD head unit. On my Jensen, it's a peach-colored wire, and is the activation wire for the DVD feature. During the installation, the instructions call for this wire to be tapped into the emergency brake indicator light wire. The reason is this:

The e-brake indicator light is what is called a "ground complete" circuit. That means that the bulb always has power applied, but when you pull the brake, that puts a ground to the wire and completes the circuit, allowing it to illuminate. The head unit sees this ground, and activates the DVD player.

In my Jensen unit, I simply ran this wire to a ground (I used a screw near the fuse box), and I put a switch on the wire, so I could break the ground contact at will. Jensen calls for a procedure to activate DVD playback. In their instructions, they tell you to select DVD from the option menu, and when the "lawyer screen" comes up (the one warning you to park before you watch a movie), you release the e-brake for 3-5 seconds, and then reapply it. To simulate that with the switch I used, I leave the switch closed (activated), and select DVD. Then I flip the switch "off" for 3-5 seconds, and flip it back "on". This tricks the head unit into thinking I put the e-brake off for a few seconds and then put it back on, and the movie will start. Then I can drive away.

Basically, ground the wire that is used for DVD activation, and put a switch inline on it. Then you can break and reapply the ground in whatever manner is required by the manufacturer of your head unit. If there is no off/on sequence with yours, as there is with mine, simply ground the wire to a screw inside the dashboard and you're done.

I keep getting a WARNING sign on tv - how do you tune tv to watch - or how do you set up to watch DVD

Car toys has a switch for $30 you can install to bypass this. It's designed so you cannot have the TV on in the front seat while driving. Some locations will install it for about $80.00 but may require you to sign a waiver. It's not legal in most states to have the TV screen on in the front seat.

Kenwood ddx712 says parking off when dvd is put in while drivind

This is ok, it is trying to protect you from losing focus on your driving. It is asking for you to pull the parking brake up so that you wont drive while watching a movie, it is against the law to drive while watching TV in a moving vehicle, you must be parked to watch, it is possible to bypass the P-Brake so that you can watch as you drive but it then becomes a technical issue which is too long for me to guide you through here and most car audio shops will not do it for you due to liability reasons if you get into an accident, they dont want to get sued.

Good luck buddy.

Please rate and vote for me if I helped. Thanks.

What is the code for watching dvd while driving

There is NO CODE, this is a wired in function, usually to the Brake Pedal, or hand brake, ONLY when they are activated, ie: In Use, can one watch the screen. Or when the Car is ignition turned off.

"WARNING STOP WATCH WATCH VIDEO" and no sound

Follow the following steps to overcome this problem:
  1. Locate the "Brake" wire (usually the pink wire).
  2. Connect the "Brake" wire to a negative point, e.g. body of vehicle.
  3. Test by playing a DVD and your problems have been solved.

HALO I HAVE I DVD CDV 710 SILVERCREST! THE DVD IS NOT WORKING IT SAYS INJOY SOUND ONLY WHILE DRIVING I CAN HERE THE MUSIC BUT NO PICTIRE WHAT SHALL I DO PLEASE HELP ME!!

You just need to connect the handbrake wire to handbrake. The handbrake connect to GND when it's engaged and the the radio will allow you to see the video. It's safety feature to not allow view videos while driving.

But where you bought this radio? I had one ago, but it was stolen together with car. Now I would like another again, I got mine from lidl.

Cannot watch ipod video on tv even using the correct apple cable

I solved my problem with this issue. It wasn't the radio in my case. Don't know if this will help anyone else but I had to turn "ON" the TV output on my ipod. This is done by going to Videos - Settings - TV OUT. Then click center button to turn it to "ON".

Its illegal to watch a dvd/tv when the vehicle is moving so the manufacturer disables the function.. Usually by connecting a cable to your handbrake indicator or to your vehicle speed sensor VSS.
Youll have to find out which one it is. You can then find out how to disable it. JVC's normally ground the H/brake cable
