Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

Cold Water fills VERY VERY slowly (i.e 2 hrs to do a load)

I have a problem with the cold water not coming in as fast as it used to.  A post said it was an easy job to replace the part.  If this is true I would love to fix it - but I don't know what part to order, and how to order it.  I'd also like to know if this is truly an easy job, and it this problem not an unusual one, so this solution is probably the correct fix for the problem?
Thanks in advance for any help you are able to provide.

Is there a place where we can see how to replace the cold water valve? And do you know where we can buy the part?
    Thanks

All you need to check the inlet, normally there is a filter attatched with the inlet line which prevents dirt to enter the machine so that must be blocking the path for the water to enter all you need to do is unscrew the inlet and check for the clogged filter located in the hose pipe attachment.

Hi

First thing to check is that someone has not turned off the water tap to the machine. If you have the double tap arrangement over a sink, a common problem is people turning the wrong tap off. Check and see :)

If the taps and filters are letting the machine get water, here is a decent guide on your machines internals.

Check to see if there's good water volume coming through the hoses attached to the washing machine. If there is, check to see if the screens inside the water-inlet valve are clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If they're clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you should completely replace the valve.

It is an easy job, as the valve and solenoid mechanism are what the cold and hot water hoses connect to (at the back of the machine) and tilting the machine forward, and maybe removing a cover you'll have easy access to the switching valve (at least on most of the washers I've worked on the valves where easily accessible),
You can tilt the washer forward and take a look for yourself before you decide to proceed.
Good luck and happy DIY.

The water fills very slowly on rinse

You probably have a cold inlet valve with restricted flow, either because the filter on the inlet valve is clogged or because the cold valve is failing......If you wash on "warm" you have both hot and cold water mixed. On rinse there is probably only cold water used....Check water flow for HOT and COLD settings and you'll probably see the difference...Good luck...Nomess

My GWL10 fills really slowly. It starts fine with the hot water, then slows to a trickle when it switches to cold but it doesn't seem to affect it if I change the temperature selection. I normally leave it...

sounds like you have a restriction on the cold water water pipe kinked or a blockage turn off cold water and remove pipe from cold tap then turn tap on and see if water is coming through fast enough if it is then the restriction is in the hose or valve on washing machine if not then the restriction is in the cold water tap

Drum is filling with water after each wash

There is only 2 possibilities for the drum to fill with water after it has finished.
Firstly, if the empty pipe is connected to the sink outlet pipe, the water can syphon back into the washer if the pipe is too low, thereby slowly filling the washer when not in use.
Solution is to lift the outlet pipe higher.than the bottom of the sink.
The other reason is the inlet valve is not shutting off properly.
To prove if this is the case, turn the water off at the valve, if it is hot and cold fill, then turn the hot off only, and wait and see if water comes in over a period of time, if it does not then you need to replace the hot valve.
If water stills comes in with hot turned off, then you need to replace the cold valve.
If cold fill only , turn off cold and wait to see if any water comes in, if it does not, then replace cold valve.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Tub filling with water after cycle is finshed

If your washer fills with water, usually slowly, after the cycle is over you have a inlet water valve which is not shutting off completely. LG usually uses a separate valve for the hot and cold. If you turn off the valve where the hose comes from the house and observe for continued water fill, first one, the reopen it, then shut off the other you should be able to see which (hot or cold) is the culprit. If you post your exact model number I should be able to list the part numbers for you. The inlet valves I am speaking of are the part where the hoses connect onto your machine.

Just want to know how to get the fasted wash as it seems to take about 1.5 hrs to do a load. zanussi xc6 1400

Check your screens on the fill valves. This is a good time to replace the fill hoses, the last thing you need is an old one to blow. Wash warm, rinse warm, both fill valves will be open. If you only use cold water, hook both fill valves to cold water, cold water will go thru the hot fill valve for a faster fill.
