Replacing Hard Drive in a Sony VAIO SZ330P/B

I need to know how I open up my Sony VAIO SZ330P/B so I can replace my hard drive. I'm pretty sure I'll need to remove the keyboard but I don't know how to do that on this Sony. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

@TampaNative: Thanks for your idea but it's no good. I had already looked for an access door on the bottom. Nothing for the hard drive, only the memory and cmos battery. When the laptop is on and I am accessing the hard drive, I can hear it under the keyboard, sort of in the top left area which is why I am thinking I need to remove the keyboard.

Turn your Vaio upside down and look for an easy access panel or release lever to remove the hard drive carriage. You will probably need a small Philip's screw driver to remove the carriage, but I don't think you need to remove the keyboard.

How do I replace the hard drive on my sony Vaio VGN-NR120E?

To replace a hard drive, you'll need to backup any data you want to keep, uninstall the old hard drive, install the new hard drive, and then restore the backed up data.

The specific steps necessary to replace a hard drive differ depending on the type of hard drive you're replacing.

The computer makes a shuttering noise every few seconds like it vibrating. I would like to replace hard drive.

If you have a CD or DVD in your DVD drive, this may be the source of your vibrating. I doubt it's the hard drive.

If you have a disc in the DVD drive, remove it and see if the vibration continues.

If it does, than you might consider replacing the HDD, but still, if you're not having issues with the system, than it may not be necessary. You might just need to check and ensure the HDD is mounted properly and secured by checking all the screws.

Sony Vaio Laptop vgn-sz330p does not shut down

This problem is generally caused by a hanging program or the registry is corrupt.

The best way i have found to resolve the problem is download a small program called "Superfast", not only does it shut XP down it does it in half the normal time and doesn't effect the computer in any way.

Download and install Superfast here >>>>>>>>>>

Once you have it installed try it, you'll be amazed!!!

I have a sony vaio vgnsz330p. I want to be able to get data.

Take the hard drive out and go to the computer retailer and ask for a EIDE/SATA to usb adapter. You can then plug the hard drive into this adapter and then plug the usb cable into another computer...the computer will read the drive as an external and you can access all your files like any other drive.

SATA is the newer version of ATA and (S)ATA is also known as IDE. Wish I was smart enough to have remembered that but my memory is leaving me - I'm just good at surfing lol. One other thing worth mentioning - when putting in the new drive, be VERY careful not to force it, use firm but not hard pressure, wiggle if needed (the drive not yourself). The pins bend pretty easily - but can be straightened with a steady hand and a knife/narrow screwdriver so long as they are not overbent.

"Although the standard has always had the official name "ATA", other names such as Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) and Enhanced IDE (EIDE) have also been adopted for marketing purposes. Although these new names originated in branding convention and not as an official standard, the terms EIDE or E-IDE often appear interchangeably with IDE and ATA."

Replace hard drive on sony laptop vgn-sz330p

Most hard drives are easy to get at, not on this model tho. If you follow this link. At the top of the screen click on next for each of the stages or use the drop down menu. Site was a bit sluggish when I went on to check so be patient with it.

Good luck

How to replacy its harddrive

It is pretty easy to replace a lappy's hard drive.. ensure you get the right one... Then it is simply matter of releasing & removing the Hard Drive from the laptop and then simply "Plug In" the New HD. After this it must be "Formatted" "Partitioned" and have the "Operating System" installed.. ya good to go. A service manual would also help.. I think I have found one below..
