Hi rneltiongson
You don't tell what motherboard you are using .
It depends on the result you want to obtain.
If you simply need sound coming out of your machine without wissels and bels , all you need is the popular Realtek AC'97 system :
For Windows Vista and W 7 , download from here: http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-Vista-Windows-7/3000-2120_4-10962344.html?tag=mncol;1
For previous versions , go here : http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-98-Me-2000-XP-2003/3000-2120_4-10238712.html
Now , ,if you are a music or game freak , you could go to Soundblaster : http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/
Best regards ,

It's little tricky...unless you have the CD that came with the PC / Motherboard....
if you have that then just inser the CD and go to Desktop/ My Computer/properties/System properties window/Hardware Tab/Device Manager/....
now look for a yellow ? mark or ! mark....if that's the sound system related.....go to that and click the update driver....chose form the options...if the correct moptherboard CD is there in the CD drive then the system will auto install the driver.....
else you need to check the sound chip of the motherboard.....that's little difficult...as you need to open the PC....and look for the sound card chip embedded on the MB......
if using a laptop then just forget it....that's more difficult....
download a software called Belarc Advisor from google and install that...
open Belarc Advisor .... run a scan using that...it will give you a full disc of what your PC has....
let me know if this helps...
