Hi rneltiongson
You don't tell what motherboard you are using .
It depends on the result you want to obtain.
If you simply need sound coming out of your machine without wissels and bels , all you need is the popular Realtek AC'97 system :
For Windows Vista and W 7 , download from here: http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-Vista-Windows-7/3000-2120_4-10962344.html?tag=mncol;1
For previous versions , go here : http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-98-Me-2000-XP-2003/3000-2120_4-10238712.html
Now , ,if you are a music or game freak , you could go to Soundblaster : http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/
Best regards ,
fanaudi .

It's little tricky...unless you have the CD that came with the PC / Motherboard....
if you have that then just inser the CD and go to Desktop/ My Computer/properties/System properties window/Hardware Tab/Device Manager/....
now look for a yellow ? mark or ! mark....if that's the sound system related.....go to that and click the update driver....chose form the options...if the correct moptherboard CD is there in the CD drive then the system will auto install the driver.....
else you need to check the sound chip of the motherboard.....that's little difficult...as you need to open the PC....and look for the sound card chip embedded on the MB......

if using a laptop then just forget it....that's more difficult....

download a software called Belarc Advisor from google and install that...
open Belarc Advisor .... run a scan using that...it will give you a full disc of what your PC has....

let me know if this helps...

How to reformat my laptop

  1. If you have the recovery cd, you can just pop-in the CD, select the reformat option and the installation process will continue automatically. Some laptop might have a special partition in the drive contains the operating system, drivers, etc. in case you want to reformat your laptop without the CD.
  2. Step 2 If you don't have the recovery CD, you usually can request one from the manufacturer. Otherwise, if you want to do a clean install, make sure you download all the drivers for your laptop, this may includes: motherboard, chipset, graphic card, sound card, modem, network card. Once you do that, put in the OS CD and start installing.
  3. Step 3 If you decided to do a clean install without the recovery CD, it would be best to create partition on your harddrive first, so you can have dedicated partition for operating system and backup. The next time you want to reformat your harddrive, you can just reformat that particular partition ex. C:\
  4. Step 4 After the reformatting process finished and you have installed a new clean OS. Install drivers one by one and restart when it's required. Try to do it in order from basic function -> secondary ex. motherboard, chipset, graphic, sound, modem, networking, etc.
  5. Step 5 Install back all programs that you might need. If you already backup the installation programs or have the installation CDs handy, you can do this pretty fast.
  6. Step 6 Rearrange the look and customize your new operating system, refer to the screenshot you have taken earlier before the reformatting process begin if you want to get the same look and feel.

I reformat my computer after i reformat no sounds was being installed how can i do it

Isit onboard sound or sound card?

Just search your Motherboard number, example "Sound Drivers for Asus K7VM2"

Or do the exact same for your sound card, Example. "Creative Soundblaster Live Drivers"

Every Motherboard website and Sound Card Website have a website, where normally u can get drivers from, if not...another site will have the drivers.
