Re-installed windows xp have no software for my hardware network modem should be a pci driver i need

I need to reformat my dell 4700. It locks up and lags real bad. I have had it cleaned and it helped some. . I was not shipped an OS disc when I bought it from dell. Will the OS stay on the HD when I re format or will I need a disc? I have 40% of my memory. Thanks for any help.

More than likely your fan needs to be replaced. These small form factor Dells are know for problems like this. Warning! Do NOT attempt to blow out the CPU fan with canned air, as this will likely lodge dust particles in the axis of the fan causing it to drag and become louder!

You have to go online and search then download the drivers for preparing SATA laptop harddrives for installation of Windows XP otherwise during installation it will tell you there is no hard drive found.

bad pbr means tht the sectors on the hard drive are bad.....u can try running tests on the hard drive by going to the f12 menu & thn contact dell tech support if u get any error msg........else u can get a win xp disc & reinstall the os

Motor bussing sound system slow

have a look at the fan on the processor if its running slow it will be making that noise so your processor is over heating and in turn making your pc run slow. replace this fan now. if your processor overheats too much it will burn out.
