Yes, it has a battery pack that can be replaced. On-line you can find them for $10-$12 each, plus $10 shipping. Quite expensive if you ask me, and you have to wait for it to be delivered in the mail. So, I just purchased two good quality AA rechargeable batteries from Wal-Mart ($3.95) and tightly wrapped black electrical tape around them so that they were securely touching end to end, positive (+) to negative (-), and then I put them in my shaver, ensuring the wire on each end was firmly affixed. It now works like a champ. Actually, I think it works better than when I first got it.

The shaver is easy to disassemble, too. Just take off the foil head. Remove the two phillips screws underneath, and then pull it apart gently unsnapping the bottom portion near the electrical plug in. The battery just sits inside the shaver with a red wire clipped to the positive post and a white wire clipped to the negative post. Pull it out and unclip the wires from each end. (During this process, one of my wires broke off from the small circuit card inside because of battery corrosion. No big deal. Just cleaned it off and resoldered it to the card. The card pulls out pretty easily, too, but be carefull not to pull it out too far and risk breaking more wires. It's really simple to do.) Your new "battery pack" may sit a bit loosely in the shaver, but that's ok. You can remedy that by using a piece of double-sided tape from Wal-Mart's craft section. Just put a strip of tape on the battery pack and push it firmly into the shaver's battery compartment. Once I put the battery pack in the shaver, I also wedged a small piece of hard plastic between the bottom of the battery pack (negative post) and the shaver housing. Anything that fits snugly and is non-conductive should do just fine for that purpose (i.e. piece of wood, etc). (Note: I'm not advocating Wal-Mart either. It's just the nearest store to the house.) Good luck. Hope this helps.

How do I acquire a charge cord for an electric razor..."Zx4" 7797SCL ?

Many corded razors have a 110 cord that will fit. The Zx4 has a keyed receptacle. Depending on the cord you find (I used a Remington), you may have to whittle off the tang on the inside of the Zx4 power port. My Zx4 seems to be sensitive to polarity, it will not charge if the cord is plugged in backward. So when you get it to charge, mark the Zx4 case & new cord so you know which way to plug it in every time.

Remington es1000

The Remington ES-1000 was probably the best slot-head shaver ever made by Remington. I cannot believe that the market demand was so low as to prompt a cancellation of production. I believe that the production run was limited to about 4 years or so. I have 8 of these shavers and keep a couple old Remington slot heads around as well. The ES-1000 was not perfect. The batteries were way too small and stressed so battery life was poor. You could not buy individual blades as you could with past Remington slot-head units. Also, the edge of the head was too exposed and sharp and when used for body shaving would tend to cut the skin.Slot-head shavers are superior for body shaving and for skin that is suseptible to shaving bumps. They are also great for young men that are prone to ingrown hairs. My guess is that the Norelco 3 head has taken it's place. Those shavers actually use 3 small slot heads. Rumor has it that is trying to have a new slot head manufactured in Asia.
