It could be your memory. No video is usually the first sign of a bad memory.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

When you took the battery out you reset the Bios... You need to go back into the Bios and select Load system defaults from the main menu and reboot.

Go into Bios again and select the PCI-X or PCI depending on what new graphics card you have, or select Auto if its an option from the selections.

Also, I know it sounds stupid, but don't forget to plug the video cord into the proper spot. You'd be surprised how many people accidentally forget to plug it into the new card instead of the onboard graphics.

Windows/Gateway GM5045E will not discover GeForce 9800GT

The problem is more likely you don't have plug and play running in windows. To install the UPnP user interface
  1. Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
  2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. In the Components list, select the Networking Services check box, and then click Details.
  4. Make sure the UPnP User Interface check box is selected.
You can also add the hardware in manually. Just treat it like a non plug and play device You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from completing this procedure.
  1. Attach the non-Plug and Play device to your computer.
  2. Open shortcutcold.gifAdd Hardware in Control Panel.
  3. In the Add Hardware Wizard, click Next.
  4. Click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • Click Search for and install the hardware automatically (Recommended) if you want Windows to try to detect the new non-Plug and Play device you want to install.
    • Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced) if you know the type and model of the device you are installing and you want to select it from a list of devices.
  6. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on your screen.

My gateway monitor shows a picture for about 1 second then turns to blacked out screen with power light still on. I can shut the power off on the monitor then turn it back on only to have it do the same...

Your power settings may need to be changed, it appears to be going into sleep mode or power saving mode.

If you are using Vista, Click Start> Control Panel > Power Options > "choose when to turn off display" (in the left hand pane) and check that it says at least 10 minutes. Click apply and then ok.

Alternatively, right click on your desktop, select "personalise" and click on screen saver - then select "change power settings" to bring you to the same thing.

If you have xp, right click on your desktop and select "properties" then "screensaver| > "Power" and change it to turn off the monitor after 10 minutes. Click apply then ok.

If your monitor is going to sleep, either press a key or wiggle the mouse to wake it up.

Hope that helps.

Gateway monitor FPD1975W won't display

Same problem - unplug both computer and monitor - hold power button for monitor for 15-30 seconds...then power it back on and then power on the computer. Seems from other sites there is a power issue with the monitor - this worked for me.

Hp screen problems

Pls check if the connections are proper and if the monitor is turned on.
Once you have checked the above thing, if the screen still doesnt come on, then the monitor has to be serviced or you may try connecting another cable from the monitor to the computer.
