Obtainng parts from Hitachi for blank screen

My screen went black also, and bought in 1-07, so out of warranty. Do you have the number you called at Hitachi to obtain the free parts? I have a serviceman coming in a few days. Would greatly appreciate receiving the number if you have it. rjnice@sbcglobal.net Thank you!

Hi. Just call Hitachi at 1-800-hitachi. Their hours are:
10-1 Saturday
9:30-6 weekdays

The person who authorized them paying for my parts was Keith, but I called back and spoke with an equally helpful person afterwards. I was impressed with the customer service. I told them that I had chosen Hitachi over other brands because I believed in the product, but I was frustrated with my expensive plasma failing so soon out of warranty. I also shared with them that I was seeing several other people on this forum experiencing the same problem.

Good luck! Let me know how it goes. :)

Black out?!?!?

I finally got information from the repair shop. Apparently it is the upper and lower panel drive. The parts are supposedly not more than a couple hundred dollars, though I'll let you know when I get the bill. I do want to say that Hitachi was great when I called them. Even though my plasma is out of warranty by a few months, they agreed to pay for parts if I pay for labor. That just might keep me buying Hitachi products despite the issues I've had with my 2 plasmas.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck

You have a defective light engine and Hitachi is aware of it. Here's what you need to do...recently went through this. Call Hitachis customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them you have a defective light engine. At first, they will act like they've not heard of this problem but they are all too familiar with it. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area. Once the tech comes out and confirms the problem, call Hitachi back at the 800 # I listed and they will call and confirm with the dealer that you have a bad light engine. They will send a brand new light engine to the dealer (Hitachi will cover the cost $1500) and the dealer will call you to come out and install.

Here's the kicker, if you're not still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the expensive part but you will have to pay the install. Our install was $400 but others on this site have paid around $200. If you're still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and install.

Please do not let any dealer tell you that you have to pay for this part. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it to you for free...you just pay the install. Also, deal only with their customer relations at the 800# I listed.Good Luck:)

You have a defective light engine and here is what you need to do...we just went through this. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013. Tell them what your set is doing and that you have a bad light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this but they have. They will give you the names of some certified Hitachi dealers in your area to call. Call the dealer and once they send a tech out that confirms the problem, takes less than one minute, call Hitachi's customer relations back and tell them you had a tech come out. All of a sudden, they will know about the problem...imagine that! Hitachi will call the dealer directly and once the dealer confirms with them that it's a bad light engine, Hitachi will send out the part to the dealer and Hitachi will pay for the part.

Now if your set is not still under warranty, ours was not, you will have to pay the install. Our install was $400...worth it to us on a $3600 TV that's only 3 years old.
The part cost around $1500 but again HITACHI WILL PAY FOR IT. You only pay the install. DO NOT let any dealer tell you that you have to pay for the part once they get it. Most certified dealers will not do that. Please call only their customer relations departement at the number above. Hitachi's regular customer service will have you chasing your tail...Good Luck!
