Does the outside compressor tonnage need to be the same tonnage as the airhandler?

when the outside and inside units are both the same size it's referred to as a 'matched' system, which is what 99 percent of all units are.
There are instances when the outside unit is bigger/smaller than the inside unit but as a rule you want the outside and inside units to be the same tonnage.

Cant find a price on the unit anywhere and just need the info to help with my business evaluations

If you are looking for a $$$$ price on your home a/c unit, you will not find one. Depending on the type of system you have and the age which if you do not know, will be located on the data plate of the unit. If you have a unit outdoors and a indoor unit, they will have the name of unit, take down the model and serial numbers as the size, tonnage, and manufacture date will be in the serial number, you can find out the cost of the unit this way. Just give this information to any a/c repair company, and they can tell you pretty much the cost of the system. I hope this has been helpful to you.

Ps, The more info you write down, the better off you will be, like voltage, freon type, this will all be on the data plate. Good Luck.

I have found this model number on the side of the AC unit outside my house and I need to know the tonnage rating. I know it is only 10 seer but can't find this info on the tag.

Did you include the make and model information?
I only see your question worded this way:

I have found this model number on the side of the AC unit outside my house and I need to know the tonnage rating. I know it is only 10 seer but can\'t find this info on the tag.

Tell us more-- or go on line and do a search for the make and model-- Can you do that?

Need to find tonnage of a Luxaire A/c unit serial # ECBM079879...

Get Model number of compressor (all compressors have a tag with a model number on them), and call a dealer who can tell you the tonnage of the compressor which will be the same as the unit.

Note: Write down all the numbers on the compressor to be sure you have the proper info that the dealer will need. Also, you can probably do a 'search' on the computer with the model number of the compressor to find the tonnage.

good luck!

I am looking for specs, specifically the RLA, on a Carrier Model 48LH006600(?)-- not sure about model #, nameplate data is totally faded!

It will tell you on the metal plate on top of the compressor, or sticker what the R.L.A.are and the L.R.A's are. If you cant read them, try and get what information you can from the compressor, like the name, Tecumseh, Copeland scroll, ect, The 48 would be the tonnage, 4 ton, or 60 a 5 ton unit. You should have enough of the model number for a air conditioning wholesale parts house to tell you this. we deal with this in the field daily.
Good Luck, Shastalaker7 I hope this helps you.

Capacitor unable to read what size

If it's the condenser fan motor cap then look at the label on the fan motor for the size usally 3/5 mfd.
If its the compressor run cap then check the top of the compressor or the info. plate/sticker on the unit for the size of the cap. Let me know if you have any other questions.
