Need software download for my laptop for my Linksys wireless-G WRT54G

Go to Linksys.com and download software.

This sounds to me like you need a firmware update.

Go here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54G

Click on Downloads, Select Your Hardware Version, and then download the available firmware for your device.

There's no need to download any software.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on the router.

Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD and press ENTER.
Type IPCONFIG and press ENTER.
Look for a line of output like:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 14.64.1.1

Start Internet Explorer.
Type http://14.64.1.1
to connect to the web-server "inside" the router.
Click to run the "network setup wizard"
Later, click to run the "wireless network wizard".

Disconnect the Ethernet cable, and have your computer "view available wireless networks" -- you should now be able to "connect" wirelessly to your router.

The default password of Linksys device is admin without username.

I usually don't use the software, I use the default IP address of the router to log into the router and set it up. Manual

to enter the routers utility,plug the pc/laptop into the router with the cat 5E cable, open the browser, type in the routers address,
192.168.1.1 User is blank password is Admin.

Use windows network setup wizard to help in setting up your wireless. The wizard can search for your wireless. Some people believe you gan get away without using Linksys's software & I agree to a point. However Linksys believes to maintain a good connection you should install the software for the wireless router. You can download it from the link below. Check out the link "Learning Center". What i am reading on web is indicating the software that came with that router will not accept the admin pw for some odd reason
