Question about Frigidaire GLEH1642DS Front Load Stacked Washer/Dryer

Very Noisy Washer!

Recently, my washing machine has started to sound like a jet plane during the spin cycle. It is so loud, it is ridiculous....we can't even hear the television two rooms over when it gets to the spin cycle. Any ideas about what may be going on and whether or not there is a remedy? Thanks

Thank you for your ideas...most likely, it is the rear support of the inner drum or the rear bearings. Do you know if either of these issues can be repaired? We have a service warranty through our utility company. The washer/dryer are about 9 years old.

Hello julierealtor how old is the washer? Try turning the inner drum by hand and see if it is noisey or moves up and down. If so then it is either your rear support of the inner drum that has failed or the rear bearings. If it seems fine, maybe you have something in the drain pump (which runs prior to and during the spin) that is causing the noise. If it is noisy during the drain, then you may either need to clean out the pump or replace it. Hope this helps.

Yes they can replace the parts. Good thing you have the warranty as this repair is usually around 600 to 900 dollars. It seems to be normal for this to happen to the front load washers in this time frame.

SOUNDS LIKE JET PLANE WHEN IT GETS BY RINSE AN SPIN TIME

I assume you mean it sounds like a jet plane when it spins, if so, I suspect a bad tub bearing. Depending on age of the machine, probably too expensive to repair.

a loud noise comes when you forget to remove shipping bolts after installation or if the shocks are worn out it makes noise thirdly the bearings might be worn out if the washer is more than 6years old

During spin cycle washer is making loud noise

If it is making a sound like a loud rumbling sound similar to a jet plane taking off, it probally due to the seal has failed causing water to leak into the bearings. The bearings begin to rust, and no longer round and the noise gets progressively louder. It can be rather expensive to fix. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing.

Very noisy when on spin. The machine seem to be balanced however the noise on spn is like a jet taking off. it gets louder as the spinning speed increases.

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
