Question about Panasonic KV S2026C Path-Through Scanner

Resetting the counters, when you don't have the original product's disk

How do I reset the counters for my Panasonic KV-S2026C when I have lost the original product disk? The Panasonic web site says, sorry, we only provide a disk with the original equipment. I feel that is a really bad policy. Any suggestions? Can anyone e-mail me a copy of their original equipment disk? joseph.diehl@gmail.com

Well, I finally "junked" my scanner before reading your solution. Maybe I'll haul it out of the garage and give it another chance. I was told by the person I bought it from, that it needs new rollers and then it will be good to go. I hesitate investing money into this machine. Thanks again for your solution.

You can download the User Utility from this page: http://panasonic.co.jp/pcc/products/en/scanner/downl_e.htm#USERUTY
The utility will let you reset the Clean Roller counter.

Error Message: Rollers dirty; Clean rollers; Push 'Reset Counter'

There's a user utility that installs with the driver & other software. The counters for cleaning & replacement are in that.

Yellow light is blinking and error indicates clean rollers. Rollers have been cleaned but message keeps coming back. No problems scanning.

Panasonic includes a user utility with this model. The utility can be accessed via Start>All Programs>Panasonic. In it you will find a display and reset function for the cleaning count. Sorry I don't have more specifics, its been a while since I worked on any Panasonics.

There is a User Shading Utility on the original product CD. Browse to the CD drive and open the folder named ShadingUtility. Run the program ShadingUtility.exe the password is GOSHADING (all caps, no spaces). Put a clean, white sheet of paper in the scanner (or glossy photo paper works really well), then click the Shading button.

Remove paper from scanner

I have this same problem every time I unplug my Panasonic KV-2026C. I've lost the original disk with the utilities, and the Panasonic web site says, they only provide the disk with the original equipment. You know, I'll never buy another Panasonic product. But I'm usually able to get the ready light to come back on by doing the following. I use a clean cloth that is soaked in Rubbing Alcohol (not nail polish remover, but pure rubbing alcohol). I basically open up the back, and clean each roller. There are two green tabs at the top of the back of the scanner. These need to be opened up (be careful, because the parts sort of fall out if you're not careful, and they are difficult to re-assemble). Again, wipe everything down with the rubbing alcohol. Close up the upper tabs. Make sure you wipe down the glass slits on both the door (front-of-the-page scanning port) and on the unit itsel (back-of-the-page scanning port). Before you close up the back door, let it sit for about 5 minutes, allowing the rubbing alcohol to evaporate. I also connect the scanner to the laptop and get the "blip" sound from Windows to recognize the scanner. I don't know if that's important or not. Then I say a healthy prayer, plug it back in and shut the back door. If there is a god on duty that day, the ready light comes on, and stays on as long as I have the power connected. I just went through the process and it worked!!!! The minute the power is off, the error light stays on. Good luck, my friends! Joe Diehl, Seattle WA
