Intermittent speaker performance - receiver issue - not a speaker issue

Matt,

Have you checked/cleaned the leads on each speaker as one bad lead or speaker can pull/push extra power from/to other speakers causing shorts, this is likely not the case but could be the easy fix. Try cutting one speaker out at a time rotating which one is disconnected to see if this fixes the issue and possibly points out either a bad speaker or connection.

Seems to be only operating at 10% capacity? There is sound, but very soft, if at all

A couple of things to think about. Is your radio functioning properly? Is your amp functioning properly (if applicable)? What ohms is the speaker? Also, (just for snicks) is the volume turned up? Just checking. Switch the speaker to a location that is functioning properly. You can tell if it's the speaker or something else. If the speaker works well, the you have to track the problem. You can also put a speaker that has been working well to that location. If it shows the same problem, then you are doubly sure it's something else. If you are not electrically inclined, and it is a wiring or product problem, I recommend seeing your local stereo shop.

My Sony home theater video center speaker don't work.

Check the connections between the speaker input on the rear of the unit, and the cable to the speaker itself, ensuring there are no weak spots or cracks. Check to make sure the centre speaker is securely connected to the correct port/socket on the rear of the unit. Also check settings of the surround in the unit's setup option - and if the display shows speaker icons and the centre one is not illuminated, it is probably OFF, or the selected mode/function does not require that speaker. If this is the case, change the function using the unit's function (mode) button, either on the front, or via the remote. (some home theatre systems have multiple modes/functions, for example MOVIE, DYNAMIC, DTS, 2 CH stereo, etc.)

It is also a good idea to do a 5.1 surround test - some DVDs have this as a bonus setup feature, but you can do this with a normal audio source, such as from a DVD or a TV program. You should hear a sound from each of the speakers, and if the unit has a volume control or each speaker does, make sure these are set to a relatively equal audible level.

If after trying the above, you still get no sound from the centre speaker, it is possible either the speaker itself or the unit has a fault. If it is the former, consider replacing the speaker. If it is the latter, this could be expensive in terms of parts and labour - as service technicians charge an arm and a leg for repairs to the amplifier circuit in these units.

In any event, try the basic, simple steps above before considering any further action. It could just be a faulty speaker, a bad connection, an incorrect connection, or a mode/function setting is wrong, causing the speaker to be OFF.

My speaker does not work

Hi, what makes the speaker of your cell phone not working is because the flex of the cell phone is damaged and it controls the function of the Speaker.

The flex look like a thread like object inside the phone. it connects the front sliding board of the phone to the lower sliding board of the phone. It controls the function of the RInger and the speaker of the cell phone.

When the flex gets damaged, it affects the ringer and the speaker of the cell phone.

When you replace the flex of the cell phone, the speaker will function again.

Hope it helped.

Thanks for using fixya.
