Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I'm told that my ink cartridge is not right for the printer. I have an x5070 and am using a high-yield cartridge, #34, sold to me by Lexmark for use with this printer. The printer won't print. What's wrong?

Hello,

You may want to download the cartridge diagnostic program from http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi

Once yu choose your operating system, you will be taken to the driver selection window. You can choose to re-download either of the files there and reinstall the driver.

However, by your description, I would click the Download Type field and choose Utility then download the Lexmark Cartridge Diagnostic Wizard by clicking the Download Now link. Be aware that you may see a yellow security bar pop-up at the top of your browser. If so left click it and choose Download File. Then choose Save. After choosing where to save the file, click save to start the download. After the download completes you should either see and option to open or run the file depending on your operating system. You can choose either one to start the installation.

Just follow the on screen instructions to install the program and test your cartridge.

Thanks

    Hello again,

It has came to my attention that the link I gave you may not be the best link to use because you have to make more choices before you can get to the download page. Although it will get you to the same download you can use this link to get there faster. http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/...

From that link you should be able to start by typing your model number of x5070 in the model number search field then press search. Then you will be able to continue with the initial instructions.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Thanks

If you bought your printer as part of a pakage from Circuit City it may use cartridges only supplied by them. In that case it's a #2 and a # 3. I had the same problem, they don't tell you that though.

Right cartrage incorrect

your printer cartridge should be
Black: 32, 34 High Yield ● Color: 33, 35 High Yield ● Photo: 31
else it will not accept the cartridge.

Ink levels on lexmark z1300

I bought this same printer and after trying numerous things to refill the cartridges (which are detailed at fixyourownprinter.com), I have concluded that if you are using black cartridge #28 and/or color cartridge #29 you cannot refill because these are the "return program" cartridges. These specific cartridges cannot be refilled and technically any attempt to refill them is against Lexmark contract which you agreed to when you opened the sealed bag the cartridge came in.(Dont believe me? check the bag) I think the bag also said that there can be criminal charges filed against you if you refill these cartridges but I seriously doubt that lexmark would go after you since it has never happened before. My recommendation is to purchase the more expensive 34 and 35 high yield cartridges which I believe but cannot confirm will let you refill. What did you expect from lexmark? This printer is sold at a loss and do you really think that they would sell you a printer so darn cheap and not expect to make that money back somehow? These printers are usually picked up by cheapskates (such as myself) who have no intention to buy any more cartridges other then the initial one. Well ive learned the hard way that lexmark as well as other printer companies are now fighting back. If you want cheap ink I hear that KODAK is selling a printer that is a bit more expensive then the other brands but has very cheap cartridges. Oh and If you did buy the high yield cartridges then please reply so I can update the thread on fixyouownprinter.com and let everyone know.

Hope this helps makes things a bit more clear. Thanks for reading!
