Opening the case of an hp d515 p 1.8 SFF

If you have the slim design with a gray faceplate there are a couple of different ways they open. The first thing I would do is look on the back and see if there are three screws .. one along the top about the middle of the computer then along each side on the outer edge also centered. If you have those, unscrew all three and slide the cover to the front. Another version has two buttons, one on each side near the front. You may have to work the cover back and forth a little as you push the buttons, but you will feel when they depress. While holding them in, slide the cover toward the front. The third design has the front faceplate pop off and there is a screw along the top in the center. Again the cover slides to the front.

Hope this helps.

After installing new Hard Drive, modem is not found. Downloaded drivers, modem not found, given error msg: 62 Reseat Modem. How do I do that? Or is there an alternative?

Unplug the power cables, take teh cover off. Remove then reseat the modem card (or riser card if it's an AMR). Replace the cover and reconnect the cables.

Most modems fail due to static (replace teh card) or software ("Device in use" error - uninstall from device manager and reboot)

My dimension 3100 is not detecting a modem

Respectfully please first check if there is a modem in the desktop PC since the dimension 3100 is not pre-equipped with a modem. you have to attach an internal modem manually on one or more PCI slots on the mother board.
the process is given here....

  • Turn off the computer. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Disconnect the power cord, attached peripheral devices and any other cables.

  • 2 Locate the cover release latch on top of the computer, near the back. Place the computer on its side, with the removable cover facing upwards. Slide the cover release latch back and lift the removable cover off of the computer. Set the removable cover aside.

  • Locate the PCI and PCI Express slots near the bottom of the system board. Select a slot that corresponds with your internal modem card. Open the card retention door on the back of the computer and remove the filler bracket for the card slot you will be using.

  • 4 Place the internal modem card into the appropriate card slot and press it firmly into place. Close the card retention door. Replace the removable cover and return the computer to an upright position.
  • 5 Connect one end of the telephone cord into the LINE port on your internal modem card; plug the remaining end into a telephone jack. If desired, connect a telephone to the internal modem card via the PHONE port.
  • 6 Reconnect the power cord and all previously disconnected cables. Plug the power cord into an available electrical outlet. Turn on the computer. If any installation software came packaged with the internal modem card, run the program and follow the onscreen directions. Your internal modem is now ready for use.

How do I remove front cover on presario 5000

I would take the cover off then try and pop off the front from there. Don't be afraid to apply some serious force, that's what I had to do.

Need to replace double layer dvd +-rw burner in my Gateway 838 GM. Will the curved front be a problem ?

You will have no problem at all replacing the DVD/RW, you may however have to pop the front off the tower, you do this by pulling on the front bottom of the unit and the cover should pop off, the DVD itself will unscrew from the case.

    Good luck
