Re: waher dont work
Check the top lid interlock switch. If the switch is bad or out of adjustment, the washer will not agitate or spin. This is a safety feature so no one can reach inside while the machine is running. To check if the switch is working, open the lid and SLOWLY close it,going as slow as possible when the lid is almost closed. Just before the lid "hits bottom", you should hear a CLICK sound. This is the lid switch actuating. If you do not hear the click, the lid interlock switch needs replacement or adjustment.

The screen on the water inlet to the machine may be plugged. Take the water hoses off at the machine end to see if there is a blockage. If that isn't it the solenoids that open the water valves may be stuck or not working. The timer operates the solenoids.
I believe it can be done, but I dont think it is recommended by the manufacturer. if you are in a basement and that is your only option, the only suggestion I would have is to build a platform for the waher and dryer to sit on . It would have to be very sturdy. Maytag recommends that you install a wash tub or something of the sort and install a sump pump to pump the water into the drain.
if the water is not over flowing on the floor.make sure your washer is off, then pull the drain hose up to the level of the back control panel you should here water flowing out once this stops.keep the hose up for aminute and restart your waher and it should fill up to the proper level and shut off and start washing
first, if it's under warranty, have them service it, if not then....
the maytags work mainly on belts with a forward and reverse on the motor. forward washes, reverse drains and starts spin cycle. if the motor does reverse and drains the water, then it's probably the transmission of the washer. these washers have 10 years parts on the transmission, so I would have a service repairman come out and fix it. you'd only pay for the labor and the transmission would be free.
Your inlet valve at behind top of machine is defective; or the pressure from your faucet is insufficient.
Close your faucet valve on wall & unscrew your hoses to check screens on hoses & machine. Clean out well. See that the water pressure is good. Refit, check for leaks. If this is not the problem change your inlet valve, it is easily done. Sites for spares: RepairClinic.com (which is good) espares.co.uk AppliancePartsPros.com
water level on the pressure switch is pre set make sure that nothing is in the pressure switch hose it connects from the pressure switch to the tub, if no obstruction then replace the water pressure switch
water can leak from the other valve while filling up if you dont have the hose on it,if you blank the valve off with a nut and tail with a coin and rubber washer in it that will fix your problem.hope this helps.
