How you doing? first find your part # on the part that you are tryng to replace, then if you are calling an appliance repair store they will ask you for the maker of your fridge your model # sometimes the serial # and the part # for the part you need then they will either give you an immediate pricing or call you back.No need to order shop manual if your comfortable working safely on your appliance, installation is reverse of dissassembly
For internet orders same thing make, model, serial#, part#.(REMBER TO UPLUG APPLIANCE BEFORE SERVICING, OR IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WORKING ON APPLIANCE CONTACT A PROFFESIONAL REPAIR SERVICE..)Good luck be safe..

I have an gss221ibma side by side. the freezer no longer freezes but the refrigerator works. Also around the doorframe of the freezer it is quite warm and sometimes hot. please help.

Hello, pull the unit out away from the wall remove the cardboard or metal cover down the bottom which will give you access to the compressor area. Assure that the compressor fan motor which is the fan that cools the compressor is running if it is not then you will have to replace the compressor fan motor. Unplug the unit until the compressor cools if you leave the unit plugged in for a long time you can cause damage to the compressor itself. . If you do not have another place to store your food until you get the new compressor fan motor leave that cardboard or metal panel off the unit if you happen to have a large box fan put it in back of the unit this will cool the compressor until your new part arrives. I have had to wait 8 days for a compressor fan motor at one time and the customer I repaired the unit for had no other place to store there food. Note this fan has to be constantly running on the compressor until you are able to replace the compressor fan motor. If you have any further questions message me back Thanks
Rick
p.s make sure you have your model number when you order your part I tryed looking that model number up but it did not come up on the look up site if you need me to locate the part number that you would use to order the compressor fan motor message me back the make and exact model number of your unit Thanks again

Samsung Fridge Noise

Hi Laura. Welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

What your hearing is a fan motor usually an evaporator fan motor in the freezer compartment. More often than not when this symptom appears there is ice build up on the evaporator coils due to an automatic defrosting problem. The fan blade can also be damaged so that the fan motor gyrates wildly in the mounting bracket or the fan bearings could be faling.

Having mention all of the above here is a way you can determine of you have defrost problem or not.
1. Unplug the unit at the wall
2. Remove the freezer contents
3. Place a fan blowing into the freezer section for a bit over 2 hours. Mind you this will make a constant water mess so be ready to tend to the drips and minor puddles.
4. After the manual defrosting session with the fan reload the freezer contents.
5. Plug the unit in at the wall outlet
6. Check for normal temps after about 4 hours
and
7. There should be NO FAN NOISE.

If the fan noise ceased due to your manual defrosting of the unit then you can probably expect the ice build up to repeat in 3 to 4 days along with decreasing performance of your refrigerator.

IF the ice comes back... you have an automtic defrost problem that will need serviced.

Kitchenaid KSSC42QMS01 refer is beeping. display is also flashing. cools normally.cannot enter diagnostic mode. Have not seen condenser fan spin, even while compressor is running. no voltage at fan

three things to check out.
1)the fan wiring's are they getting cut in between or burnt or short.
2)if the wires are proper ,then its faulty fan motor the Fan needs replacement.
3) if the compressor relay is faulty then also fan will not work.the relay is located beside the fan and compressor.

if not familiar with checking a local repair technician familiar with your brand /model is advisable.

No cooling, coils frosting up, defrosted with blow dryer several days ago and cooling fine again, but frost is building up rapidly again. I suspect a defrost heater, please confirm and where to order a...

The evaporator (inside) coil can ice up for the following (typical) reasons. Check the ones that you can and hire a professional refrigeration technician if you can't find the problem yourself.

1. Thermostat isn't shutting off. (Does the compressor run continuously? Can you turn the compressor off while it is running by turning the freezer temp control down (but not off)?

2. Internal fan (evaporator fan) is not blowing air. Possible causes: fan blades hitting something; debris blocking air flow; fan motor bad; no power to fan.

3. Low refrigerant (freon) charge. Need a technician for this one.

You can get thermostat or fan motor at a local appliance parts store. Try googling "appliance parts <yourzipcodey>"

If this was helpful, please select YES to the first two RATINGS questions. Good Luck!

My GE refrigerator evaporation fan turns on and off intermittently. If I unplug the refrig for a while and plug in again, it will run normally for a couple of days. Then the problem will come back again....

This problem is related to a few possibilities. The fan motor is defective, or the control board relay has become defective. At this point I am comparing this model against the GE Profile Repair Manual to get you some test points to check before we change anything. The part number for the fan motor is WR60X10185
I will be back as soon as possible to help answer the question and give you more informed advice. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Freezer is working/refrigerator works sometimes

No No No. The most likely reason that the evaporator fan is not running is that it probably uses the heater circuit for its neutral feed. I.E. In order for the fan to have 230v/115v it needs a zero voltage brought back through the defrost heater and defrost stat. I know this for a fact because I just did one today and have fallen for this scenario (ie bad fan motor) before. You need to check from ground(earth) to each side of the fan motor (which is easily accessible) and then across the fan motor windings. The chances are that you have zero voltage across the motor. The fan will also not run until the temperature of the evaporator coil has been brought below 0 'C (32'F) and this can take up to 20 mins (again speaking from experience). This is to prevent snow being produced after defrost. I would advise getting the engineer to come back if you have paid him money and do a proper job. Shorts in Amanas can happen but have not come across one yet. Hope this helps.

Alex Your fridge has two fan motors: evaporator fan located inside the freezer behind the back panel and the condenser fan motor located next to the compressor on the back of the refrigerator. What fan are you talking about? Give me the complete model number of your fridge and I'll find the part number, location and price for you. Gendos, post back...
