    Hi there-
this is the exact same problem I am having with my Dell laptop. My linksys wireless-g notebook adapter can find the router but no internet connection. Everything has been loaded twice, the card is active yet it continues to not find the internet. If I plug the laptop via a cable to the router-no problems getting on the internet. Any solutions? I am pretty sure it is the linksys card just not sure what to do now?

I have reloaded this thing about a five times now. It is recognized by the Device Manager and saying it is working. I have even tried updating the drivers but the adapter seems to only work with the driver I am using (v3)
The laptop is an Dell Inspiron 8100 I bought off a friend. The frustrating thing is that he had xp on it and it worked just fine with the router. I needed the laptop to have win2000 on it and not thinking it would be a problem to get it working again, dumped everything on the reinstall. I have 512mb system memory, harddrive is 32GB and 32mb video memory. The model is PP01X. Tried to look up any updates at Dell website and found none. Any direction you think I should try again....
Thanks in advance for your help and input!

Have you tried to reinstall the device driver? Then check the network settings and see if the device is loaded. If you still cannot get the device to work, unplug it and restart your computer. Once reloaded replug in your device and system will recognize the device and load the drivers if they are on system already, if not it will ask fir the driver cd to be loaded.

Can you let me know what type of laptop you have, the model number and how much memory you have. If you have less then 256mb the wireless will work harder to keep connection and also your Internet will be slower.

If your modem(the device given by your ISP) connected the linksys router on WAN port just power down all devices and power on modem and make sure all lights are on and then power on linksys router. This should fix most problems. If no luck connect your computer to modem directly and check if you are able to log on to internet! If your modem is not working then your ISP is the best option to call!

How do you configure a linksys wireless-b WPC11 notebook adapter to connect to available wireless connections?

let me tell you its very easy.

I have an old laptop that has a linksys wireless-b notebook adapter and my new computer with a linksys router attached is a linksys dual-band wireless-n. I can not get the notebook to link to the router...

Most of the newer routers use a newer type of encryption (WPA or WPA2) which is not supported by older 802.11b hardware.

Either set the Linksys router to use WEP encryption, or get a newer 802.11g card for the old laptop which can use WPA or WPA2 encryption.

Older versions of Windows XP also need to be upgraded to Service Pack 3 or apply this patch:

My Wireless-G Notebook Adapter will not connect to the Internet

If you go to the control panel in the start menu, check the network connections. It may be a LAN connection or another wireless connection that is not connected. You can disable them by right clicking on them. If you are able to get on the internet then you are ok. Let me know. Please give good rating...

Adding a computer to wireless at home

1) Go to the computer that is connected directly to the Linksys router.

2) Open up Internet Explorer (or your favorite browser).

3) In the address bar, where it says "http://www...." clear out everything in there and type in the following numbers:

192.168.1.1

Press "enter" on your keyboard. This will open up a dialog box asking for your username and password. Try leaving the username blank, and type in "admin" for the password.

Now you're in a web page that controls your router. Look for the Wireless section, and make sure wireless is enabled. Check for wireless security as well, because you may need to enter a long number in your computer once it finds the router.

If you still need more help, feel free to ask.
