My hard drive is bad - It had windows xp home edition - I want to replace my hard drive and load xp home back on it. it was a 60gb 4200rpm travelstar drive - what can i replace it with?

Any ide 2.5 laptop hard drive will work.

the IDE is the important part, it's the older style. Don't get SATA.

The size of the drive doesn't matter.

Hope this info helps.

How can I replace my 30GB ultra ATA EIDE HDD with

Purchase a solid state drive, 2.5" for laptops 3.5" for desktops (or use an adapter for notebook drives with a 2.5")

Connect your IDE cable (and power cable on desktops) to the drive, install Windows and you are done!

If you want to keep your existing data, get an external enclosure for the appropriate sized disk and use a program like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image to clone the existing drive to the new one, then swap the two drives (SSD from enclosure to internal, other drive out to enclosure)

Comment if you need more information!

Can I replace an ultra ATA drive with an EIDE drive?

Yes there are several ways.

1st is there a spare IDE socket on the motherboard?

If not you can get a IDE to SATA convertor thet plugs in the back of the drive. or you can get a convertor for a SATA drive to make it IDE compatable.

Hard drive replacement

Hi there, I have an HP nx6110 and it had a WD 60GB 4200 rpm IDE, I bought a Seagate 80GB IDE Hdd and it worked fine. The only think you should be careful is to check if you need a SATA Hdd or IDE Hdd, but I think it's a SATA.

Ze4325us laptop...hard drive upgrade.....

I know the original question is over a year old, but here it goes for those just tuning in. Your HP ze4325us can only recognize a hard drive that is under 137.4GB. If you try to install a hard disk larger than 137.4, your computer will start to fail over time. I would recommend a 120GB hard drive, ata-100 / ide / eide, and spinning up around 5400 or 7200 rps. It would make your task easier. If you want to go bigger, use the hard drive manufacturers disk utillities programs (check manufacturer website) to partition and format before installation. So, if you were to puchase a 160GB drive, you could partition it at 137.4GB and 22.6GB. My advice, make it easy and just find a 120GB drive. Less hassles!

I need a new hard drive

You can go up to 120 GB for this model computer. Following is a link to Drive Solutions, Inc. It shows a 120 GB ATA drive available for your drive. ATA is the formal name for an IDE drive.

Here's the link:

Good luck.
