If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. Hope this helps

Asus Varidrive

Had the same problem on Mac.
Solution: You need to connect device to machine on Linux and give it "eject" command.
Do not to connect device to Windows machine. I was trying to burn cd on Mac. Then it was interrupted in the middle of burning (some files were missing). When I connected drive to Win it tryed to unsuccessfully read it and eventually explorer.exe crushed. And it will not resolve until you reboot the machine.

Dvd will not eject and noisy

To eject, put a staple on small orifice on the front.
Or, by the Explorer window, go to letter of DVD, and with right mouse button, click on "eject".
Have any disk inside? Maybe the disk have some problem to do the noise.

Media center does not play cds or dvds please help

You have to check your CD/DVD Rom to make sure the device is not faulty.

Open your Windows Explorer, insert any CD/DVD to see whether your CD/DVD is able to read the the disk.

If it cannot read the disk, most probably the CD/DVD rom is faulty and you have to replace it.

My sony cd-rw crx320ee does not eject but it can read cds

When you say "not eject", I'm assuming you have tried ejecting from a physical button on the drive as well as selecting eject in Windows Explorer. If not, give it a try. If still a problem, note a small hole in the drive. Open a paper clip and gently place one end in the drive. The drive should open. Hope that helps.

My DVD RW drive won''t open and the one below it opens sometimes,

Hello;

Have you tried Windows Explorer; "right" click on the drive and select 'Eject'?

Also, if it's not reading at times - sounds like dirty lense; use CD/DVD cleaner; you can buy those anywhere these days very cheaply.

I hope that helps,

Thanks.
