My kitchenaid diswasher will fill and drain with water but when the wash cycle starts there is a buzzing sound and nothing happens. Model 310253306 about 13 years old. The was cycle not working was not a gradual problem. Worked one load and then stopped the next load. Solenoid or circut board??

Your drain pump could be plugged and needs to be unplugged or is not working and should be replaced for your washing machine.

check door lock switch if not water valve for cold side is not on or valve is defective buzzing sound from water valve means not opening

The unit normally has a 1:20 to 1:30 fill cycle with pauses in between while the wash motor starts and stops without running a diagnostic mode this normally happens when the control outputs power to the wash pump motor but the pump doesn't start

This problem is caused when the motor goes bad and needs replacement. The control will fill water and then sends signal to the motor to start a cycle, if it won't work then it will drain the water and so won't start the cycle. However, it can also be a bad door latch-lock assembly as if the control senses that the door is not closed it won't start the cycle. If you hear any humming buzzing sound from the bottom of the unit then replace the motor if not then replace the latch assembly. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

micro switch at the door lock has failed. it just happened to me.
I wired it direct and it worked. just dont open the door until you get a new switch. it wont shut off

sounds like you have a problem with your water supply to washer. the buzzing noise sounds like it's the valve opening to receive water but nothing going in. check supply hoses and water taps

This is likely a pressure switch issue.

if it's making a loud buzzing noise while its suppose to be agitating or spinning its the motor coupling

Motor trying to start. blockage in pump, or bad motor!

Check the water pump for an obstruction in the chamber area, your pump may be sticking and that will cause the buzzing sound. The water pump runs during the fill portion of the cycle on several of the selected wash cycles to recirculate the water.
