Question about Bissell 7901-1 ProHeat Scotchgard Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum

1 Answer

Water won't release when lever pulled

I've had this problem before. Took the machine to a local service center and had it serviced for $50. The servicing consisted of removing clogs of pet hair, etc. from somewhere. If this is going to be a frequent occurrence, I need to know how to find the clogs snd remove them. I've cleaned all of the filters as prescribed in the owner's manual, and I have the top of the unit almost off to see what other clogs are present.

Any help with this service procedure would be most appreciated.

Does water squirt out of the hose nozzle, if it does, then check the heater inside the handle asm. Make sure that where the tubes hook up to it are not clogged. If water doesn't squirt, check for the seal at the bottom of the tank, it needs to be on the tank, not in the hole, this is for the soap bottle also, there is a seal on the bottom of it as well. The flow indictor cap is leaking air or maybe is too tight. If you had the top cover off, make sure that the tubes are routed right so as not to get pinched when the cover is put back on, the smart mix knob should be in the water setting and that the piston is on the bottom of the smart mix knob. Pump is bad. Try running a mix of vinegar and water to see if that unclogs the lines. Is the top cover and the base tight together in the back, sometimes the top breaks loose and it will raise up and it can't spray, just re-fasten it down.

Took inner bladder out now won't hold water

Inner bladder is needed to hold the fresh water for spray. Make sure the bladder is pulled through the bottom of the tank and that the black cap with a red rubber seal on the bottom of the tank.

If the black cap is missing you'll need to purchase a new one. Here's a quick link.

One pointer that can help between uses is running water through the lines. First, put clean water in both tanks and set your unit to the heavy traffic setting for one pass. This will flush out any cleaning formula in the lines so your spray tips won't get build-up between uses, which can lead to a lack of dispensing the cleaning formula.

My Bissell proheat 2x cleaner will not spray the cleaning solution

- Check to see if the machine will spray through the hose with the setting on tools. If it does, the pump is fine. Continue troubleshooting.
- Check for debris on spray tips. Clean them with a soft brush (on old tooth brush works well). The spray tips may be lifted out for easier access.
- Ensure the tank lid is properly attached to the bottom of the tank. To attach this properly, remove the Water Tank from the machine. Hook the front window onto the lip of the bottom container and then allow the window with lid to cover the complete tank. Secure the latch on the back of the bottom tank to the back of the tank lid. THE TANK LID CANNOT BE ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE BOTTOM TANK IS ALREADY INSTALLED IN THE MACHINE.
- Check the bottom of the Water Tank and the Formula Tank to make sure each has a red auto-load gasket attached. Make sure the Water Tank and the Formula Tank are seated properly. Depress the x on this gasket to ensure this depresses and release back out. Liquid from the tank should dispense.
- Remove the handle completely and re-attach. Once the handle is re-attached, re-attempt to spray.

If the machine continues to not spray, check the following:

REMOVE THE COLLECTION TANK:
• Make sure the unit is set to water rinse
• Remove the smart mix bottle and fill it with water only
• Place the smart mix bottle into the collection tank reservoir
• Run the unit and try to spray. If the machine sprays, you will be able to see the water level decreasing in the smart mix bottle and you will need to replace the bottom tank. It is possibly warped.

If your machine continues to not spray we would recommend having your machine inspected by a technician at a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center.

To locate your nearest BISSELL Authorized Service Center, please go to www.bissell.com. Click on the Customer Support tab near the top of the homepage and enter your zip code in the Service Center locator box to perform your search.

Kenmore 31913 Foot pedal release lever broken-need to replace

FixYa techs - thank you for your response but I solved the problems. It took me 2 hours of continual searching but I finally found the parts - listed under the tab sew machines of all things!? There is one pedal in stock and I called the service company and will pick that up and do it myself. I took that part off my vac and put it back on so know I can do it. I've been fixing stuff all my life and it just takes some logic - anyone can do it if they have a tool kit.

Bissell 1950F Wet Pick Up Vacuum Cleaner

I have the the same problem.. Took machine entirely apart. Inspected the actuator lever, rod, plunger, hose, bar (entire water feed components). Took the tank apart and determined there was a possibility that the curved hose(inside of tank at suction side) could have sucked itself onto the bottom of tank. Modified to prevent this from happening again. Put the machine back together and voila! It worked for a few minutes only if I kept the trigger depressed. I believe the machine was designed for part gravity water feed and part vacuum water feed. Whatever the case, not working too well. Although, I did notice it works better when the clean water tank is full. After inspecting and testing I determined that there is too much vacuum energy being lost to the underside of the brush housing hence not creating enough suction for on demand water supply.
