Your set doesn't have a tube, per se, it has three CRT "guns" in Red, Green and Blue tjat converge the colors on the screen to create the image. It is very odd for them to all go at once which means it's probably a much bigger problem that will not be cost-effective to fix. Better off investing in a more contemporary set.

Screen is black but I can hear sound.

Most likely the power supply board needs to be replaced. It could also be the backlighting. A few TV's have a separate power board just for backlighting, but not many.

If you don't know what you're doing, DON'T OPEN THE TV UP TO FIX IT, THERE ARE HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, EVEN WEEKS AFTER THE TV IS UNPLUGGED!

If you don't know how to do it yourself, find some local Electronic repair shops, get quotes, try to find reviews on the shops.

Picture went out and red light on the front by power button is blinking. When I turn TV on I can hear sound but no picture,, then TV turns off automatically after a few seconds.

Hi,
It seems problem with low screen voltage to three picture tubes in this rear projection tv.
If standby light blinks 5 times after three seconds long pause then adjust screen volts of each picture tube to solve this issue.
Screen volt adjustment requires expertise and job of professional so please call local tv repairman to help you.
Thanks.

TV MADE A LOUD "POP" NOSIE AND THEN SCREEN WENT

If the display isn't working and according to the conditions you described yes it is the picture tube. You could contact Samsung and get a replacement for it.

I have a Mitsubishi Projection 1080 Series TV. The picture sometimes (most of the time) is "bowed" at top and bottom and blurred. Sometimes corrected by repeatedly powering off and on.

okay, 1080 Series isnt the model... the model number is on a sticker on the back, and that's what you need to find first. Just from the description, though, sounds like your focus block is bad; that will cause the problem you are describing... not cheap, but way cheaper than a new TV.

The actual tv will no show a screen, but you can

if theres power its more likely your picture tube went out or blowed & will have to be replaced or repair. If there is there sound other than the power like static or normal sound. then it's definely the picture tube but if theres nothing but juice & its a newer model tv its a problem with the fan or lamp
