You're getting the correct results. The "EXP" means "times ten to the". When you press 10 EXP 2, you're asking for 10 times ten to the second, which is 10 times 100 or 1000. If you just want ten to the second, press 1 EXP 2.

Dividing 2 different scientic equations into another

Sorry but you are using the word EQUATION incorrectly. All you have is two numbers you want to divide one by the other.
Enter the numerator 1EE (-) 14, press the division key / then enter the 5 EE (-) 12. Press the = sign.
Note: to enter the negative sign in the exponents, use the change sign key marked (-), (+/-) or [+/-] . Do not use the regular MINUS sign.
When you use the EE key, you must not enter the 10. It is understood because EE is a shortcut for *10^.

I need step by step instructions on using Casio fx-115ES ee or exp burron.

The equivalent of the EE or EXP button on the Casio Fx-115ES is marked as x10^X. It is located at the bottom right of the key pad left of the = key.
To enter the power of 10 in a number written in scientific notation, you press the x10^X button followed by the exponent. If the exponent is negative you press the change sign key first [(-)] , then the one or 2 digits in the exponent.
Example Enter the mass of the proton m_p in kilograms
1.6726217 [x10^X] [(-)]27 [=]
In grams the value above is multiplied by 1000.
or
1.6726217 [x10^X] [(-)]24 [=]

Since the calculator has the physical constants (the FX-991ES definititely has them)
  1. Display the proton mass in kilograms
  2. [SHIFT ][7] to open the constants catalog,
  3. type 01 for the proton mass, then press the [x^-1].
  4. Divide the result by 1000
  5. You should get 5.978638635 x10^23

How to use sentry ca 656 calculator for exponential forms in positive and negative ? when i am trying to do 2 to the power of 3 , it is giving me answer as 2000.for this i pushed 2 button than EXP than 3 ....

The EXP key is what's marked EE on most calculators and adds a decimal exponent. 2 EXP 3 means 2*10^3 which is 2000 as you've discovered.

You need to use the x^y key (just above DEL) instead.

When i enter 10 exp (-)2 equals, the calculator displays the result as 0.1 when it should be 0.01? why would this be happening?

Hello,
The [EE] or [Exp] shortcut is the source of much grief to the students.
When you press the [Exp] 0 you are in fact entering 1.00 so

[EE] (-)1 [=] gives 0.1
[EE] (-)2 [=] gives 0.01

Thus
10[EE](-)2 is 10[x][EE](-)2 or 10[x]0.01 = 0.1

The new generation of calculators does not have the [Exp] or [EE] key. It is replaced by a key with a more explicit label [times 10 to the X]
Hope it helps.

My calculator will not let me add or subtract percentages.

I have a Casino MS-80S and yea, the percentage works different. As example to take 100 and subtract 10%, this is what I do: 100 X 10% - and then I get the answer 90 after I press the minus key. To add the percentage instead, 100 X 10% + will give me an answer of 110, after I press the plus key.

Different answer two different calculators ti-81 and ti89

I had the same problem when I got my first 89, even though it's really a feature and not a problem.

Press the diamond key then enter to get your answer, and it will give you the decimal answer instead of the exact answer like you have been getting. Hope this helps...

to do a neg exp you have two options, one use brackets if calculator has them.....

The dreaded Cassio fx 115MS S-V.P.A.M.

I played with my calculator, and discovered that the "EXP" function does not play well with variables using the "CALC" function. Instead of EXP, use ' x 10 ^ C ' or whatever instead.
