had same problem. update tv software with a usb drive. do not take the tv apart. its easy download to computer unzip to usb drive and put drive in right side of tvs usb slot with power off, then turn power on, you should get an update screen.
did not work for me the first time i had to format usb drive to fat (not fat32) and then unziped to the drive took 10 minutes to update. I have tv 60PP9200D/37

YOu have convergence issues. Ok first question. IN your setup menu do you have the convergence option/ if you DO not then it can be a specail fusable link. fl231 if you do. next question do the picture bow in at the middle. if you do then it possibly a convergence power supply issue. next if you go into setup convergence does the crosshairs adjust up or down left to right on both blue and red. I if so then theres is a chance that it can be a convergence adjusment or a amplifer problem AS always THIS SET CAN GENERATE LEATHAL 380 VOLTS EVEN WITH SET UPLUGED SO BE CAREFULL.

SOURCE: Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!

SOURCE: Same problem as many others- GREEN TV bought from

Sony has extended the warranty on the optical block regardless of purchase date until 6/30/10. I just had them cover the repair for me. They were very good about it. Call 1-239-768-7547 in US.

High pitched ringing sound from my tv

It most likely is coming (based on model number listed here) from the high voltage transformer---ways to silence that up to and including replacing that part.

My mitsubishi rear projection tv will not stay on

The model number indicated has a self test: when power light goes off at turn on:

on front of set press and hold both menu and input buttons at same time for at least 10 seconds and let go of both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code like 1 blink, 2 blinks a pause and repeat it several times.

What if any error code do you get?

This will narrow the problem to a specific area of the set.

MY REMOTE TURN THE TV ON, BUT IT TURN OF MY IT SELF. I CAN TURN THE TV ON BY POWER, BUT IT ALSO TURN IT SELF BACK OFF.

do the self check this set has, when power light goes off, ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS AND HOLD BOTH THE MENU AND INPUT (DEVICE) BUTTONS FOR AT LEAST FIVE SECONDS AND RELEASE BOTH.

Watch the power light, it will blink a two digit error code=====most common is two blinks, two blinks a pause and it will repeat the code several times.

This is to narrow down where the problem is.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

1) Can be dust do a good clean
2)Check for the fuse and change it if needed.
3) Capacitor needs to be changed, you'll have to findout which one.

Hope it helps, good luck

Screen gets darker.

The blinking light indicates there is a problem much like a check engine light in a car.

Unfortunatly this is an older TV CRT based and is problably only capable of 1080i HD resolution if your lucky. I would watch it til lthe TV dies then replace it. If its unwatcable then its tiem to replace this set. If a CRT is going bad then its time for a new TV finding new CRT's is just about impossibel these days.

Tv turns off by it self

Ours 60" (60P8342) turns off after a short period of time also. My husband researched it online. The cheap solution he was told to try is to unplug the TV (or plug into power strip and switch off) when you are done watching it. A computer board inside over heats and it's a protection mechanism for it to turn off. Otherwise, it's over $100 to fix the computer board.

Must press power button several times to power on,butwhen turned off again must press button several times to turn on again.

Could be a loose power button or problem with relay/circuitry. Recommend you get a professional to take a look.
Also try a hard reset:
Unplug from mains, remove all cabling from TV. Wait 10 mins. After 10-15mins, hold down the power button and replug TV to mains. Now redo all cabling and try powering on the TV.

Should it still not work, you'll have to call in a pro..

Will Not Turn On

First you need to do a self test diagnosis and then if it comes up with:
SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB
Do self test by pressing Input/Device and Menu at the same time for 5 sec. the set will show a 2 digit seq. first blinks followed by a short pause then the second.
