Question about Mitsubishi WT-46805 46" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Projection bulb There are actually three tubes in this unit: blue, green, and red. They would not all have gone out at once, and that can't be the problem if I am seeing light on the screen as described in my original post.

I took the back cover off and I could see all three filaments glowing when power was on. That means the tubes are good - right?

your model doesnt have a bulb like the DLP projection. Instead you have three CRTs ( picture tubes) one red, one green and one blue. If you respond to this same post with your symptoms I can assist with diagnosis.

Red Color is not showing up.

THIS TV HAS KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH PICTURE TUBE FAILURES AND I WILL PREDICT THAT AT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE EVEN IF YOU GET IT REPAIRED NOW, ONE OF THE REMAINING TUBES WILL START GIVING YOU PROBLEMS. YOU HAVE THREE TUBES IN THIS UNIT (RED,GREEN & BLUE) AND THE RED TUBE IS DEFECTIVE. SORRY FOR THE NEWS BUT JUST TRYING TO SAVE YOU THE ULTIMATE COST FOR REPAIRS, FOR A PICTURE TUBE REPLACEMENT AND SUBSEQUENT SET UP IS A MAJOR & COSTLY REPAIR.
HOPE THIS HELPS

Spots on picture screen, color not correct

the picture tube has three color production units (bulbs) red, yellow and blue.....since these three colors can be combined to produce almost any color. as you have specified the red bulb might have damaged due to one of the following reasons.
1.continuous usage
2. keeping your tv in standby mode for a prolonged time.
the only thing you can do is call a technician and get your damaged part replaced.
remember please do not try to disassemble the unit yourself.

Bulb Replacement

It might be the the socket board on this model not the crt tube. Closely look at each tube these tubes end up contaminated. They start looking like lemonade inside. Usually the blue and green, with the tv off see if the green and blue are as clear as the red with a flashlight. You might want to call a service center. Cheaper in the long run over the cost of a tube.

Philips Projection TV Bulbs need changing

Buy a new television. The "bulbs" are actually small picture tubes, also referred to as CRT's or guns. There are three of them, Red, Green and Blue. The cost for the tubes alone will probably exceed the original purchase price of the television. If the new tubes do not have the lens assembly attached, then you will need to transfer the old ones. This involves draining, cleaning, and refilling the coolant chambers. Once installed in the set, there is a series of mechanical and electrical adjustments required, to get the picture aligned or converged. This procedure is not recommended for the inexperienced. If cost and time are not an issue, then everything can probably be found on the Internet. Simply search the web for your model number. You will need the remainder of the model number first. There are at least eight models starting with 46PP9302. You are missing three additional characters.
