Most likely requires a belt replacement. On certain models it can be the belt tensioner assembly, however. Check your belt first. Feel free to ask me specifically about your machine, since the model type may affect what's wrong with your vacuum.

Either the pin on the brushes that attaches to the motor shaft is broken, or the motor is dead. Did you check the switch on the front of the unit to make sure it wasn't turned off?

I have a bissell powerforce bagless.that is melting belts. i've cleaned the brush bar and put a new belt on only to have the new one melted again. i don't know what could possibly be wrong with it.

Make sure all the pulleys the belt attaches to are spinning properly, if one is stuck or not spinning fast enough that will easily generate enough friction to melt the belt each time you replace it. Might need to replace other parts, or clean out more than just the brushes.

Brushes are not spinning

One problem may be that two small wire are broken that control roller functions. See solution with photos at http://bajwa.net/content/dyson-dc15

I cleaned filter and the brushes are still not rotating.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. It probably is not the filter that will start the brushes turning again, it may be a few other things. There is a switch in the front that indicates brushes on and brushes off, and the switch could be broken, it could be that the brushes come in an assembly and the assm could be belt driven and you would have to replace the belt or the drive mechanism the turns the brushes is broken. These are just suggestions and you should check the schematic in your owner’s manual under trouble shooting. If you don’t have a owner’s manual, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I have a Kenmore upright beltless that suddenly, the brush stopped spinning. Do you have an answer for this?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. On the Kenmore upright the belt is broken and needs replacing and you can take it to Sears / Kenmore or a local vac dealer and they can change it for you or you can attempt to do it yourself, usually it just takes a screwdriver and either a flat or a geared belt for less than $10.00 to $15.00 is an estimate.
