To enter you HP BIOS try one of the follow buttons to get into it.
F2,F8,F9,F10 or Del (Delete)

Start pressing one of these buttons repeatly (not like insanely fast pressing) when you turn on your computer and displays the HP logo. Taking out the battery is a choice but why open up the panel if you don't have to.

I hope this will help you out.

- BIOS not BIO :)

- all computers, laptop/desktop/server..etc ... have a small battery, that helps keep the settings in BIOS as the user changed them !

- u;ll have to go through u're motherboard user manual to see exactly where the bios reset jumper is ! If u don't have the manual, u will see the battery (is a round and flattened 1.5 cm battery...u cant miss it, is the only one in the computer) somewhere on the motherboard (ussualy in the lower right part of the motherboard). You just have to remove it for 5 seconds or so (force it out of the soket it is in) and then replaceit back. By doing this all the BIOS settings go to the manufacters default settings...

Sistem haltet or bio eror

Unfortunately this indicates that your computer BIOS ROM chip or Motherboard is physically bad. It is recommended that you contact your computer manufacturer or take the computer into local service center for repair.

You can try getting into BIOS and restore BIOS to defaults settings if the system allows it.

Let me know
Thanks.

How do you know if you needa new battery?

The only battery there is in a desktop PC is the bios battery. If you mean that, then you know it's time to change it when you get 'bio setup error' messages when you turn on the machine.

Check you system settings. Something may have knocked out your hard drive. There you will be able to see if it is acknowledging it.

My mom put a bio password on her gateway sx2800 and forgot the password

If you mean a BIOS password (and since you didnt mention which version) ie Pheonix, AMI etc you can always remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes-- (looks like a big watch battery)

Why do bio page appear when turning machine on have to hit f2 to continue

It could be that the small coin-shaped battery on the motherboard is getting "old", and won't hold a charge.
Thus, all the BIOS settings are *NOT* being "saved" when your computer is powered-off.

Replace the battery.

Password is on and i cant remember it on start up

well if it is a desktop then you have to short the bios. facing the back of the computer remove the panel on the right. there is a jumper next to the cmos battery. it looks like a watch battery. switch the jumper to next pins and power up the computer. note: it will not come on but the fan will be running. turn of computer and put the jumper back. the computer will start and you have to reset information in the bios.

Start up

The BIOS is an interface between the hardware and the software, and it also contains basic testing for all components (POST). If the computer doesn't pass the BIOS phase it will not work at all !!!

Can u enter into the BIOS settings ? Do a BIOS reset, by shorting the proper jumper (see user manual) or by removing the BIOS battery for 5 seconds and then reinsert it (in the same position + to + and - to - !!!)

i don't know what u mean by a recovery ?!

Do the linux test if u can ! because if it works all u nead is a SO reinstall .... if not ... u can test the harddrive and memories on an another copmuter, and if they are good but the comp still doesn;t work something is damaged and u;ll have to get it to a service or replace the component ....
