Hi,

Try to take a bellow pump or similary and force in water in the water inlet, make sure you have the steam knob open when you do this.

SOURCE: Am unable to prime water pump

Water is not being drawn from reservoir into boiler. The valve at the base of the boiler seems to function properly. After repeated attempts, I am unable to prime pump and fill boiler with water.

Machine says needs priming. Water light stays on but no water comes out when opening valve. No water for coffee either. Water pump broken?

hi,
can you hear a quite louder noise when trying to make water flow?
If no or very faint noise can be heard, pump is probably faulty or needs to be disassembled and cleaned (see tutos on the Net)
If you can hear a loud noise, the pump is working but unable to suck water, keep on trying, if still unsuccessfull you will have to open the machine and fill yourself the watel inlet tube to "help" the pump priming.

Hope that thelps

My machine reads "prime water system

The reply cannot be helpful if any explanation is offered without knowing the category, make and model of the coffee maker.
Basically the water flow in the system is slowed. The machine may need descaling.
If the pump is louder than normal, it is air locked and will need manual priming to let it pump normal.
The manual priming is to inject a few drop of water into the pump (just like a speaker needs a sip of water to continue his speech).
To manually prime the pump you can use a syringe, a Turkey bastor (if you are in USA) or use a hand pump made available with some makes (included as accessory with Saeco, Gaggia espresso machines).
For descaling you may use the link to order a reliable descaler:

My machine displays "Need to Prime". I attempt to prime it but the message keeps reappearing. In other words is seems that it is unable to be primed in the usual fashion. Any advise would be...

Ventilate message

That means the pump needs to be primed by running water through the wand. Push the water button and open the knob on the right. You will hear the pump change tone when it primes and the light or message will disappear. If you have a restriction in the intake line the message will not go away. There is a flow meter inside the machine that measures water flow. If the flow meter does not spin when the pump is running, the computer thinks that the pump is not primed. Coffee grounds can get into the intake and restrict the flow meter. If you get a restriction in the water intake (below the water tank, on the machine) the pump may run and water comes out, but the flow meter does not create the jet of water to spin the turbine wheel to send impulses to the computer. You get the ventilate message. One thing to remember is when you are working on the water system (have the water tank off) do not fill the bean hopper and visa versa. Keep them covered when working on the other. Cross contamination will damage a machine fast
The first thing that I would check is the tip of the steam wand for a plug. If that is clear then I would suspect a clogged flow meter. If you can get the flow meter out it twists apart and don't loose the parts and the dot on the turbine goes up. Clean out the small opening on the bottom pipes where the hoses attach. Look inside and make sure that they are clear before reassembling.

n regards of the no prime issue. this is the only way i could prime this new puppy.make sure its stone cold which is a no brainer since it will not heat h2o unless its primed. first take off steamer plastic tip ,turn on steamer clock wise till pump starts. then **** the tip of the end of the metal tip hard until pump stops may need to do it a couple of times. yes this seems out of this world but it works. you are flushing out the vapor lock in the pump. bravo enjoy!

Saeco Magic Superautomatica de luxe problem

Hi,

I think your "water turbin" also called flow meter is gone and have to be replaced.

To check this you can do the following:
Open the steam knob and try to make a cup of water, if you only get a half cup of water then the flow meter has to be replaced.

If you not get any water then you have air in the system, to fix this you have to get a little bellowspump or similar.

That you have to do is:
  1. Fill up the pump with water
  2. open the steam knob, when the pump starts remove the water tank and set the pump in the water inlet
  3. press in water with force, that can happen you must do this more than one time.
Try to do this and hope you get your coffee:-)

Priming problem

Make sure you try to prime right when the machine is turned on, so that there is no boiler pressure making it more difficult to prime.
