Question about HP Computers & Internet

4 Answers

IPAQ hx2790b Comm: I have used it for a few hours a day since I bought it about a year ago. About 3 months ago, body of iPAQ started to heat up, once in awhile, whether in use at the time or not (even if it was turned off). Lost battery power during the time it was hot, sometimes right down to zero power. The green light wouldn't come on for about 4 hrs. When the green light came on and flashed, the screen would come on and it indicated that the battery power was 0%. Then, it would take a night to recharge, then the iPAQ would be ok for awhile. When battery is totally discharged the iPAQ won't come on even in the cradle until the green light starts flashing. This is happening constantly now. I've ordered a new battery thinking that is the problem. Am I right?

Note: The green light wouldn't come on for about 4 hrs after being set in the cradle.

I think the whole device was hot but maybe the heat spread from the battery.

This can really be a problem with the battery because if you charge the device for that long definitely it will damage the battery and it will also make your unit hot because of it..so changing the battery will fix it..

Hope that helps........

The touchscreen has stopped responding. Everything else is OK.

Ok, i see your problem. Take a business card and wipe the corners of your screen gently. This should work as unresponsive screes occur when dust is trapped on the screen.Remember, practice this every 3 months.Good Luck :)

Fully charged mobile battery goes dry within few hours(3 hours)

If it is 8 Mths. old, it should be under warranty.Have the providwer fix the issue.

you can try Kaiser Tweaks:

***Copied from this link:
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/935379/Battery+Life

which will change the settings in the registry automatically:

These WILL work, and WILL improve your performance!

1. HKLM\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms\DisablePowerManagement
Change Dword value from 1 (default) to 0

2. HKLMComm\Irsir1\Parms\DisablePowerManagement
Change Dword value from 1 (default) to 0

3. HKLM\Comm\PPTP1\Parms\DisablePowerManagement
Change Dword value from 1 (default) to 0

4. HKLM\Comm\L2TP1\Parms\DisablePowerManagement
Change Dword value from 1 (default) to 0

To make these registry changes, I used CeRegEditor. Works from the computer and connects to the phone/PPC while synched. I have noticed an improvement in battery life. Should work with WM5 and WM6.
Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Compaq iPAQ 3850 Not charging/turning on

Try this - don't give up Leave it charging, even if it takes three days. I sold one a few years ago on ebay and the buyer was insistent it wouldn't charge. Eventually it did start charging and there were no more problems.

Start up problems

I had the same problem few years ago with my 3950

I kept it on the charger and it just kept doing that, and finaly died totaly.

I send it to repairs and found out it was a motherboard / chipset problem and the motherboard would need to be replaced.

HP IPAQ 111 Handheld PDA

If you want to "wipe" the PDA heres how:

-you may need two people to do this,
-hold all three buttons together: START, OK, VOICE
-keep holding these buttons and push reset for 3 seconds
-let go the reset
-then let go the 3 buttons
-the Ipaq will go into CLEAN BOOT mode and start over again

Let me know if these worked.
