Use a Anti Virus software probably norton 360 or maybe Mcfee anti virus, there are a few free antivirus software on the internet. after installed and downloaded, let it run a full sweep and get the virus's on the computer. Then hit delete when it gives u the option. I hope that this helped. If not please let me know.

I recently installed Norton Anti Virus on my computer and now I can't get back to the start menu or the icons that were installed on my desk top. The reason I installed the Norton is because someone else...

This is a problem I see very often, its down to antivirus 2010 (which btw you prob have already guessed is not a legitimate antivirus, its malware)

The only way to fix this properly is to use an antivirus boot cd (it wouldnt let you install anything otherwise, the norton you tried to install it has corrupted)

Look on google for AVG boot cd, its easy to make but you'll have to use another pc to do so.

Once you've run it and its cleaned the infections then reboot the machine and see if you can login properly now, if not then you'll need to go for a reinstallation of the operating system (I prefer to do this anyway as its always faster)

I am having trouble downloading some new virus software (McAfee). I have bought a new product from them and and trying to download it direct from the website. I have turned off Firewall, pop-up blocker etc...

Hi,
I believe that there is an old anti virus on your system so you need to follow this...
1. Download the Norton Removal Tool, to your desktop (do NOT Run it yet.)
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...3108162039
2. Disconnect from the internet and close all programs, and REBOOT.
3. Uninstall Norton with Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs.
4. IMMEDIATELY enable the Windows Firewall!
5. Double-click on the file you saved in #1 above to run the utility. Do
NOT touch your keyboard until the run has completed, then REBOOT (again).
6. Install better antivirus, such as Eset's NOD32, Kaspersky or Avast!

FREE Home Edition Avast! antivirus - anti-spyware protection

You mentioned you were using XP Home edition. What Service Pack? SP3?

You did not mention HOW you connect to the internet? dialup?

Is your computer part of a local network?

Important: Download MBAM, update, and run the FULL scan:
FREE Malwarebytes anti-malware

There is some excellent information here:

HTH. (Hope This Helps. :)

I have a norton 360 antivirus software in my pc upon purchased but expired already. upon scan 51 cookies treaths was found. i did not renew upgrade so the viruses can not be fixed how do i solve this

It's easy! For one thing DON'T renew Norton. It sucks. Two great anti virus programs that I have used recently are FREE ! !! One is AVG Anti-Virus and I would also recommend CCLEANER (**** Cleaner). AdWare is another good one. In fact, I have all THREE on my computer and use them on a regular basis. Just GOOGLE the names I gave you and forget about Norton...... Did I mention they are FREE ?????????????? :)

Antivirus is basically a protection against viruses....

Basically it protects your pc from worms, trojans and viruses...

A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computerterminals on the network) and it may do so without any userintervention.

A Trojan horse, also known as a trojan, is a piece of malware which appears to perform a certain action but in fact performs many different forms of codes.

A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user.
