Hello!

I am not sure exactly where you are checking for Wireless connections.

Anyhow, now a days we are hearing many Wireless adapter missing from Device manager issues.

Please get back to us with the Brand name of your laptop, OS installed.

Also check in Device manager for Wireless adapter.

Please follow these steps to open Device Manager:

1. Right Click on 'My Computer' icon on Desktop and choose Properties.
2. The System properties Window opens.
3. Click Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

Expand + Network adapter and check if the Wireless adapter is listed there or not.

If it is not listed there, then the issue is with the Wireless adapter itself.

This is most comon issue in HP COMPAQ notebooks.

if you are not aware of the Wireless adapter under + Network adapters in Device manager, then get back to us with the complete information under + Network adapter.

So thatI can help you in better way

My internet connection via Ethernet vanishes when i disable my wireless connection. how can i keep this from happening. it's on a old Gateway MX6214 PC Notebook.

Sounds like it's connecting through wireless so when it's switched off, it stops.

Go to 'my computer' if you're using XP and right click, click 'properties'.

Go to hardware, then Device manager.

Look downlown list and choose 'network adaptors'.

See if both wireless and ethernet are working OK. Use properties to check.

Acer Aspire On Netbook - lost wireless connectivity completely

Relax.. check all your drivers in device manager:

Vista- type device manager at startup
XP- right-click my computer -> hardware -> device manager

Make sure all the drivers is ok with no question marks or errors, if it does, reinstall your drivers from your driver CD.

Lost on screen wireless icon

You can do this the long way to connect to a network and get your icon back hopefully.

Go into my computer, click control panel (switch to classic view), then go to network connections, from there Right click on your wireless connection, and select properties. Once in there, unclick and reclick (or just click) both the tick boxes for displaying wireless info. Then press ok and cross your fingers :P (it might need to be rebooted)

If you can't connect still or see the icon, the workaround is going back into that network connections, and just selecting (or single clicking) the wireless connection. There should be a menu on the left side of the window that expands and allows you to select view wireless networks. If your wifi card is on, which it seems to be from your post, then you should be able to connect this way just as well.

If all does not work, always use system restore, go back to a point where you didn't have this problem, it's a lifesaver for driver issues believe me :P.
Click run, type in msconfig , and then select the system restore button and follow the onscreen prompts. Select a date when the issue wasn't happening.

Hope this helps, stay spicy and happy lappying!
Be sure to rate! :)

I need to turn my wirless internetnet option on and cant for my IBM thinkpad thanks

mostly the button is found on the left float side of your laptop 'IBM'. with two icons of a computer. please make sure that the button is on the side of the icon that shows a computer with weaves. so that your able to check the wireless access points you have in your range.
Wireless Connection:
Start > Control Panel > network connection>

Show network connections. If there is an X on wireless connection then connection is disabling and if no X then connection is enable.

make sure its enabled.

Right click on wireless network connection and click view available wireless networks.
You should see a list of available wireless networks

Then select the wireless network that you need to work on and click connect.

An icon in the lower right hand corner of your laptop should eventually appear stating that you are connected.
Then this will show you your wireless connection.

Excellent you connect to your wireless network.
