TRIED TO DOWNLOAD AVG ... AND I CAN'T!!!!

I' TRYING TO DOWNLOAD AVG 8.0 FREE EDITION BUT I KEEP GET IT THIS: "Error: Action failed for file avgmfx86.sys: starting service.... Error 0x80070002
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?
CAN YOU HELP ME ?

It is telling you that the file you have downloaded is invalid. It probably means it is corrupted during the download process.

I'm not sure what you are downloading but have you tried AVG free edition?

Action failed for directory avg8: removing directory.... Error 0x80070091


Try uninstalling AVG. What ver windows are you using ? You can check your start up group using Run/ msconfig/Startup is what you want. Look for anything strange. If your not sure about this step..ask for additional help. Check on AVG site for and one else have the same or simular problems. Make sure you don't any left over pointers from other virus programs. That's one reason to check MSCONFIG. If some other virus program is installed it would be in your startup group which is why you need to check that. ALso you might want to go to www.filehippo.com and download free program called CC Cleaner. This will check and remove your temp files and check and correct your register file. Hope this helped

AVG Free Edition wont install on Dell Studio lap top runs Vista


First follow the following steps :
  1. Start the computer. Press the F8 key during startup to start the computer in Safe mode.
  2. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  3. Delete the following registry keys in the Windows registry:HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\AVGHKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\AVG
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
  5. Restart the computer.
Then uninstall AVG completely from your computer http://computersservicing.blogspot.com/2009/04/download-avg-removal-tool.html
and install AVG free edition.

Trying to download avg 8.5 free edition


You cant put 2k service packs on XP, try xp's sp3, it may solve the problem

Installation Problem


uninstall AVG 8.0 and download the free edition at www.oldapps.com and click for AVG free edtion antivirus.. install again. good luck

delete all avg folders in program files folder like grisoft ang avg then run unistall from control pannel
