check if their is any program that are using your camera. closed any open program that related to your camera. or try uninstall the software of your camera be sure you have to restart the pc after uninstalling, and install it again your camera sofware and driver.
Disable the built-in laptop by going into the Device Manager, expanding the Imaging Devices folder, right clicking on the webcam text and hitting 'Disable' You should now connect and test the HP Cam here http://www.testmycam.com/ If it broadcasts ok you can configure it to a chat program of your choice. If not I suggest you uninstall the current software and download it again from the HP support website.
